Notifications & ringtones: Apple iPhone 4S

Learn how to set alerts, ringtones, and notifications on the Apple iPhone 4S.

 

 

 

Emergency alerts

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Notifications.
  3. Scroll to the bottom section Government Alerts.
  4. Tap the slider to enable or disable the following:
    • AMBER Alerts
    • Emergency Alerts

 

Incoming email

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Sounds.
  3. Tap on the desired notification.
  4. Scroll to and tap the desired ringtone.
  5. Press the home button at the bottom of the device..

 

Ringtones

 

Ringtone for all calls

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Sounds.
  3. Tap Ringtone.
  4. Scroll to and tap the desired ringtone.
  5. Press the home button at the bottom of the device..

 

Ringtone for calls from one contact

You cannot assign a ringtone to contacts stored on the SIM card or phone (device memory).

 

  1. From the home screen, tap Phone.
  2. Tap Contacts.
  3. Tap the contact you wish to change.
  4. Tap Edit.
  5. Tap Ringtone.
  6. Tap the desired ringtone.
  7. Tap Done.

 

Transfer music or sounds to use - PC or Mac

  1. Open iTunes.
  2. Connect the iPhone to your computer using the included USB cable.
  3. Click the Device button in the upper-right corner.
    • If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button first.
    • If you don't see your device, you may need to hide the sidebar. Choose View > Hide Sidebar.
  4. Click the Music tab.
  5. Check the Sync Music checkbox.
  6. Choose what you want to sync:
    • Entire music library
    • Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres
  7. To include music videos, check Include music videos.
  8. To include voice memos, check Include voice memos.
  9. To automatically fill all free space on your iPhone with music, check Automatically fill free space with songs. This option is only available when syncing Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.
  10. Once you have selected the music to sync, click Apply.
