Smartphone Mobile Hotspot: Samsung Galaxy S III

Set up

  1. Check that Wi-Fi and Smartphone Mobile Hotspot are turned off.
  2. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap the Connections tab.
  5. Tap More networks.
  6. Tap Tethering and Mobile HotSpot.
  7. Tap Mobile HotSpot. To toggle Mobile hotspot on or off: Tap the ON / OFF switch at the top of the screen.
  8. Tap the Menu key, then tap Timeout settings and choose from the following:
    • Never timeout
    • 5 minutes
    • 10 minutes
    • 20 minutes
    • 30 minutes
    • 60 minutes
  9. To restrict devices or allow all devices to connect: Near the top of the screen, tap the connection name. Tap Allow all devices or Only allowed devices.
  10. At the bottom of the screen, tap:
    • Allowed devices
      1. Tap + to add devices.
      2. Tap the Trash icon to remove devices.
      3. Tap the Back key.
    • Configure
      1. Tap Show advanced options to show all the setting options.
      2. Tap to adjust the following settings:
        • Network SSID
        • Broadcast network name (SSID) (on/off)
        • Security
        • Password
        • Broadcast channel
        • Maximum connections
      3. Tap Save.

 

Turn on / off

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap the Connections tab.
  4. Tap More networks.
  5. Tap Tethering and Mobile HotSpot.
  6. To turn off, tap the Mobile Hotspot Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.
  7. To turn on, tap the Mobile HotSpot Switch to On. The Switch moves right and turns green.
  8. If you are turning on the HotSpot for the first time, you must create a password before using the Mobile HotSpot. When you turn on the HotSpot, you will be prompted to create a Wi-Fi password. When the pop-up window appears, tap the Password field and enter the password (passwords must be at least eight characters) and then tap Save.
