Contacts: Samsung Galaxy S III

Use these steps to manage contacts and caller groups on the Samsung Galaxy S III.

 

 

 

Add contact

  1. From any Home screen, tap Contacts.
  2. If necessary, tap the Contacts tab.
  3. Tap the Add contact+’ icon.
  4. Tap one of the following options inside the pop-up window to select where the contact will be saved. If the pop-up window does not appear, tap the drop-down arrow below 'Save.'
    • Device
    • SIM
    • Add new account. If you tap Add new account, follow the prompts to log into your account (for example, a Google account).
  5. Tap the Name field to open the on-screen keyboard and enter the contact’s name.
  6. If desired, tap to enter additional contact information.
  7. Tap Save.

 

Add contact to speed dial

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Phone icon.
  2. If necessary, tap the Keypad tab.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Speed dial setting.
  5. Tap the number you want to assign.
  6. Tap the contact you want to assign to the speed dial number. If the contact has more than one number, tap the desired number.

 

Add number to caller group

  1. From any Home screen, tap Contacts.
  2. If necessary, tap the Contacts tab.
  3. Tap the Groups tab.
  4. Tap the desired group.
  5. Tap the "+" icon or else tap the Menu key, tap Edit, and then tap Add member.
  6. Tap to select the check box next to each contact you want to add, or tap to select the Select all check box to add all contacts.
  7. Tap Done. If necessary, tap Save.

 

Import / export contacts - SD card

  1. From any Home screen, tap Contacts.
  2. If necessary, tap the Contacts tab.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Import/Export.
  5. Choose the desired option:
    • Copy your SD card contacts to your device
      1. Tap Import from SD card. When Importing contacts, you must select which account you want to import them to. This can vary depending on which accounts you have logged into.
      2. From the 'Save contact to' pop-up window, tap where you want to save the contacts (for example, Google).
      3. Tap the desired option:
        • Import vCard file
        • Import multiple vCard files
        • Import all vCard files
      4. Tap OK.
      5. If necessary, tap to select the desired Contact file(s) (vCard file) to be imported and then tap OK.
    • Copy your device contacts to SD Card
      1. Tap Export to SD card.
      2. Tap OK to confirm the Export.

 

Import / export contacts - SIM card

  1. From any Home screen, tap Contacts.
  2. If necessary, tap the Contacts tab.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Import/Export.
  5. Choose the desired option:
    • Copy your device contacts to your SIM card
      1. Tap Export to SIM card.
      2. Tap Select all or else tap each desired contact you want to copy.
      3. Tap Done and then tap OK.
    • Copy your SIM card contacts to your device
      1. Tap Import from SIM card. When Importing contacts, you must select which account you want to import them to. This can vary depending on which accounts you have logged into. However, if you haven't logged into any accounts, the contacts will save to your phone memory.
      2. Tap Select all or else tap each desired contact you want to copy.
      3. Tap Done.

 

Create caller group

  1. From any Home screen, tap Contacts.
  2. If necessary, tap the Contacts tab.
  3. Tap the Groups tab.
  4. Tap the Menu key.
  5. Tap Create.
  6. Enter the group name.
  7. Tap Add member and tap to select the check box next to each contact you want to add. Tap Done.
  8. Tap Save.

 

Delete contact

  1. From any Home screen, tap Contacts.
  2. If necessary, tap the Contacts tab. To delete only contacts from a single contact list (for example, Google), tap the Menu key, tap Contacts to display, and then tap the desired contact list.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Delete.
  5. Tap to select the check box next to the contact(s) you want to delete. You can also tap Select all to delete all contacts.
  6. Tap Delete.
  7. Tap OK. If you changed your contact display settings, tap the Menu key, tap Contacts to display, and then tap All contacts.
