Battery life: Samsung Galaxy Light

    Learn how to save battery life on the Samsung Galaxy Light.

     

     

     

    Battery saving mode

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap the My device tab.
    4. To turn on, tap the 'Power saving mode' Switch to On. The Switch moves right and turns green.
    5. To turn off, tap the 'Power saving mode' Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.
    6. Tap Power saving mode.
    7. Tap Learn about Power saving mode to see tips for saving battery power.

     

    Battery saving mode settings

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap the My device tab.
    4. If necessary, tap the 'Power saving mode' Switch to On. The Switch moves right and turns green. You are prevented from adjusting settings if the Switch is Off.
    5. Tap Power saving mode.
    6. For the following settings, tap to select the Check box and enable or clear the Check box and disable:
      • CPU power saving
      • Screen power saving

     

    Tips to save battery life

    • Change application sync settings
      1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
      2. Tap Settings.
      3. Tap the Accounts tab.
      4. Under 'My accounts,' tap the desired account type (for example, Google).
      5. Tap to adjust the available sync settings for the account type. In general, tap the sync category to clear the Check box and turn off syncing and tap to increase the interval time for syncing.
      6. Tap your email address or user name at the top of the screen to adjust more sync settings.
      7. For each applicable category, tap the sync category to clear the Check box and turn off syncing.
      8. For each applicable category, tap to increase the interval time for how often you device sync occurs.
    • Lower screen brightness and timeout duration
      1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
      2. Tap Settings.
      3. Tap the My device tab.
      4. Tap Display.
      5. Tap Brightness.
      6. Touch and slide the slider left to the lowest desirable setting.
      7. Tap OK.
      8. Tap Screen timeout.
      9. Tap the lowest desired setting (lowest is 15 seconds).
    • Toggle from 4G to 2G
      1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
      2. Tap Settings.
      3. Tap the Connections tab.
      4. Tap More networks.
      5. Tap Mobile networks.
      6. Tap Network mode.
      7. Tap GSM only to restrict your connection to only 2G.
      8. Tap LTE / GSM / WCDMA (auto connect) or GSM / WCMA (auto connect) to use 4G again.
    • Turn off background data
      1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
      2. Tap Settings.
      3. Tap the Connections tab.
      4. Tap Data usage.
      5. Tap the Menu key.
      6. Tap Restrict background data to select the Check box and start restricting background data.
    • Turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and Smartphone Mobile Hotspot
      1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
      2. Tap Settings.
      3. Tap the Connections tab.
      4. Tap More networks.
      5. Tap Tethering & Mobile HotSpot.
      6. Tap the Mobile HotSpot Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.
      7. Touch the Status bar and drag it down.
      8. To turn off Wi-Fi, tap Wi-Fi. The icon is removed of color and the indicator light turns off.
      9. To turn off Bluetooth, tap Bluetooth. The icon is removed of color and the indicator light turns off.
      10. To turn off GPS, tap GPS. The icon is removed of color and the indicator light turns off.
    • Uninstall unused apps
      1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
      2. Tap Settings.
      3. Tap the More tab.
      4. Tap Application manager.
      5. Swipe left or right to the Downloaded screen.
      6. Tap the desired application
      7. Tap Disable (to turn off the app) or Uninstall (to delete the app) and then tap OK.
    • Update to the latest software
      1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
      2. Tap Settings.
      3. Tap the More tab.
      4. Tap About device.
      5. Tap Software update.
      6. Follow any additional prompts.

     

    Set device to sleep when unused

    Press and then quickly release the Power key to set the screen to sleep mode.
