Network & APN: Google Nexus 9

Use these steps to support network settings on the Google Nexus 9.

 

 

 

APN & data settings

  1. From the home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap the Connections tab.
  4. Tap More networks > Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
  5. If available, tap the T-Mobile US APN (the bullet point fills with green). If not available, tap the Menu key, and then tap New APN. To reset your APN settings, press the Menu key and then tap Reset to default.
  6. Verify and update the following settings for the Data APN:
    • Name: T-Mobile US LTE
    • APN: fast.t-mobile.com
    • Proxy: <Not set>
    • Port: <Not set>
    • Username: <Not set>
    • Password: <Not set>
    • Server: <Not set>
    • MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    • MMS proxy: <Not set>
    • MMS port: <Not set>
    • MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
    • MCC: 310
    • MNC: 260
    • Authentication type: <Not set>
    • APN type: <Not set> OR Internet+MMS
    • APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
    • APN roaming protocol: IPv4
    • Enable/disable APN: <greyed out unless there are multiple APNs>
    • Bearer: Unspecified
  7. Tap Menu > Save.
  8. Tap the desired APN profile you want to use.
  9. The bullet point fills with green next to the APN profile.

 

Manual network selection

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

 

  1. From the home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap More > Mobile networks > Network operators.
  4. Select the network you want to use.

 

Switch 2G / 4G

  1. From the home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap More > Mobile networks.
  4. Choose one of the following options:
    • Switch to 2G: Select the Use only 2G networks check box.
    • Switch to other network: Tap Network operators and select the desired option.

 

Turn on / off airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows app and menu use, but prevents voice or Internet use.

 

  1. From the home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap the Airplane mode switch to the on or off setting.

 

Turn on / off data roaming

  1. From the home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap More > Mobile networks.
  4. Select or clear the Data roaming check box.
  5. If prompted, tap Yes to confirm.
