Smartphone Mobile Hotspot: BlackBerry Classic

Learn how to share your mobile internet with other devices using the BlackBerry Classic.

Set up

  1. Check that Wi-Fi and Smartphone Mobile Hotspot are turned off.
  2. From any Home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
  3. Tap Settings > Network Connections > Mobile Hotspot.
  4. Make sure the Mobile Hotspot switch is off, then tap Configure.
  5. Set up the following settings, then tap Save.
    • Mobile Hotspot Name
    • Password
    • Band Type
    • Inactivity Timer
    • Allow connected devices to exchange data with each other.
  6. Tap the Mobile Hotspot switch to turn on.
  7. Make sure the Allow devices to connect is checked.
  8. You cannot change the maximum number of connections.

 

Turn on / off

 

First-time access

  1. From any Home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. Tap Settings > Network Connections > Mobile Hotspot.
  3. Tap Next to complete the tutorial.
  4. Enter a password that other devices must enter to connect to your Mobile HotSpot and tap Next.
    • Your phone starts broadcasting its Wi-Fi network name (SSID)  and up to eight other devices can connect to your Mobile HotSpot.
    • Your phone’s default SSID is T-Mobile Blackberry [XXX].
    • When Smartphone Mobile HotSpot is enabled, your phone will display the icon on the Home screen status bar.
  5. To turn off, tap Mobile HotSpot switch.

 

After first-time access

  1. From any Home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. Tap Settings > Network Connections > Mobile Hotspot.
  3. Tap the Mobile Hotspot switch to turn on.
  4. Make sure the Allow devices to connect is checked.
