Turn on and use safe mode
Safe mode allows you to turn on the device with third-party apps disabled. Then you can easily uninstall apps that may be causing a conflict or software problem.
Turn on safe mode
- With the screen on, press and hold the Power key.
- In the options menu that displays, press and hold Power off.
- 'Restart in Safe mode' prompt will display.
- Tap OK to restart in Safe Mode.
- Device will display 'Safe mode' at the bottom of the screen.
Uninstall third party applications
- Drag down the notification bar and tap the Settings icon at the top-right.
- Tap General > Apps. (If using List view, scroll to 'PHONE MANAGEMENT,' then tap Apps.)
- If necessary, swipe right to the Downloaded screen.
- Tap the desired application.
- Tap Uninstall
- Tap OK.
Turn off safe mode
- With the screen on, press and hold the Power key.
- In the options menu that displays, tap Power off and restart.
- The device will restart and Safe mode overlay will no longer show on the screen.
