Smartphone Mobile Hotspot: ZTE Obsidian

Set up

  1. Check that Wi-Fi and Smartphone Mobile Hotspot are turned off.

  2. From any Home screen, tap the All apps icon.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Under the 'WIRELESS & NETWORKS' heading, tap More.
  5. Tap Mobile HotSpot.
  6. Tap Mobile HotSpot settings.
  7. Tap Configure Mobile HotSpot.

  1. Tap the Network name field to enter a new network name, if desired.
  2. Tap the Preferred Channel drop-down menu to select the desired option.
  3. Tap the Security drop-down menu and select the desired options.
  4. If prompted, enter a password.
  5. Check or uncheck the following:
    • Show password
    • Broadcast network name (SSID)
  6. To reset all Mobile HotSpot settings, tap RESET OOB.
  7. Tap Maximum connections and choose a number (1-8).

  8. Tap Save.

  9. Tap Keep Wi-Fi hotspot on and choose one of the following:

    • Always ON
    • Disable after 5 min of inactivity
    • Disable after 10 min of inactivity
  10. Tap Allowed devices to select the following:

    1. Tap the check box to turn Allow all devices on or off.
    2. If desired, tap ADD NEW, enter a Name and MAC address to add a device to the allowed devices list, then tap Save.
    3. If desired, tap DELETE, tap the check boxes to select devices to remove from the allowed list, then tap Remove.
    4. Press the Back button.
  11. Tap Power Mode and choose one of the following:

    • Maximum battery life
    • Maximum HotSpot range

 

Turn on / off

  1. From any Home screen, tap the All apps icon.

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Under the 'WIRELESS & NETWORKS' heading, tap More.

  4. Tap Mobile HotSpot.

  5. Tap the Mobile HotSpot slider to turn it on or off
