Network, APN, VoLTE: LG G3

Use these steps to support network settings on the LG G3.

 

 

 

APN & data settings

 

Turn on data settings

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, tap Menu > List view.
  3. Tap More > Mobile networks.
  4. If necessary, select the Data enabled check box to turn on.
  5. If roaming outside of the T-Mobile network, select the Data roaming check box and then tap Yes to confirm.
  6. You will incur charges if you are roaming internationally.

 

Select an APN

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, tap Menu > List view.
  3. Tap More > Mobile networks.
  4. Tap Access point names.
  5. If available, tap the T-Mobile US APN (the bullet point fills with green). If not available, tap the Menu key, and then tap New APN.
  6. A separate APN must be added manually for the Reset to default option to appear.
  7. Verify and update the following settings for the Data APN:
    • Name: T-Mobile US LTE
    • APN: fast.t-mobile.com
    • Proxy: <Not set>
    • Port: <Not set>
    • Username: <Not set>
    • Password: <Not set>
    • Server: <Not set>
    • MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    • MMS proxy: <Not set>
    • MMS port: <Not set>
    • MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
    • MCC: 310
    • MNC: 260
    • Authentication type: <Not set>
    • APN type: <Not set> OR Internet+MMS
    • APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
    • APN roaming protocol: IPv4
    • Enable/disable APN: <greyed out unless there are multiple APN's>
    • Bearer: Unspecified
  8. Tap the Menu key.
  9. Tap Save.
  10. Tap the desired APN profile you want to use. The bullet point fills with green next to the APN profile.

 

Restore default APN settings

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, tap Menu > List view.
  3. Tap More > Mobile networks.
  4. Tap Access point names.
  5. Tap the Menu key, and then tap Reset to default.
  6. A separate APN must be added manually for the Reset to default option to appear.
  7. Tap Yes.

 

Manual network selection

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

 

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, tap Menu > List view.
  3. Tap More > Mobile networks.
  4. Ensure both checkboxes are clear:
    • Mobile data
    • Data roaming
  5. Tap Network operators > Search networks.
  6. The phone searches for networks. This takes several minutes.
  7. Tap to select the desired network. The phone registers you on that network.

 

Switch 2G / 4G

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Setting.
  3. If using Tab view, tap Menu > List view.
  4. Tap More > Mobile networks.
  5. Tap Network mode.
  6. Tap one of the following desired band settings:
    • LTE / WCDMA / GSM (auto connect) (LTE setting)
    • WCDMA / GSM (auto connect)
    • WCDMA only
    • GSM only (2G only setting)

 

Turn on / off airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows app and menu use but prevents voice or Internet use.

 

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Tap the Airplane mode switch.
  4. Review the Airplane mode message, then tap OK.

 

Turn on / off data roaming

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Setting.
  3. If using Tab view, tap Menu > List view.
  4. Tap More > Mobile networks.
  5. Tap the Data roaming check box to enable or disable.
  6. If prompted, review the Attention message, then tap OK.

 

Turn on / off mobile data

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Setting.
  3. If using Tab view, tap Menu > List view.
  4. Tap More > Mobile networks.
  5. Tap the Mobile data check box to enable or disable.

 

Turn on / off VoLTE

  1. Tap Phone.
  2. Tap Menu > Call Settings.
  3. Tap the VoLTE switch to enable or disable.
