Back up apps
Android 6.0 Marshmallow
- From the Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Backup & reset.
- Check Back up my data to back up any account data, Wi-Fi passwords, and other settings to Google servers.
- Check Automatic restore to restore backed up settings and data when re-installing applications
Android 7.0 Nougat
- From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Cloud and accounts.
- Tap Backup & reset.
- Check Back up my data to back up any account data, Wi-Fi passwords, and other settings to Google servers.
- Check Automatic restore to restore backed up settings and data when re-installing applications.
Back up contacts
- From the Home screen, tap Contacts.
- Tap MORE.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Move device contacts to.
- Return to the Home screen, then tap Apps.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Accounts.
- Tap desired account.
- Tap MORE.
- Tap Sync now.
Back up media & pictures
From computer - PC
- Download and install Samsung Smart Switch compatible with your computer from http://www.samsung.com/us/support/smart-switch-support/#!/.
- Connect the cable to a compatible USB port on your computer.
- Connect the other end of the cable to your mobile device.
- Allow computer to install required drivers.
- Open Smart Switch on your computer, and allow it to make the connection.
- If necessary, follow these steps:
- Touch the Status bar and drag it down.
- Tap Connected as a media device.
- Select the Media device (MTP) check box.
- On the computer, click Open device to view files.
- Navigate to desired files. The Card icon is the SD card. The Phone icon is the internal storage.
- Drag and drop files into desired phone folder(s).
- When finished, safely disconnect the phone from the computer.
From computer - Mac
- Download and install Samsung Smart Switch compatible with your computer from http://www.samsung.com/us/support/smart-switch-support/#!/.
- Connect the cable to a compatible USB port on your computer.
- Connect the other end of the cable to your mobile device.
- Allow computer to install required drivers.
- Open Smart Switch on your computer, and allow it to make the connection.
- If necessary. follow these steps:
- Touch the Status bar and drag it down.
- Tap Connected as a media device.
- Select the Media device check box.
- If necessary, click the Restore tab.
- Select the Music and Photo check boxes. Select other check boxes as desired, or choose Select all items.
- Click Restore. Follow any additional prompts.
- When finished, safely disconnect the phone from the computer.
