Text to speech: Samsung Galaxy Note Edge

Use these steps to use text to speech to have messages read out loud on the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.

 

 

 

Set up

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Under 'SYSTEM,' tap Language & input.
  4. Under 'SPEECH,' tap Text-to-speech options.
  5. Tap to select the desired TTS engine:
    • Samsung text-to-speech engine
    • Google Text-to-speech Engine
  6. Next to selected search engine, tap Settings.
  7. Tap Install voice data.
  8. Next to the desired language, tap Download.
  9. Wait as the language downloads.
  10. Tap the Back key.
  11. Tap Language to select the language.

 

TalkBack settings

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Select the My device tab.
  4. Tap Accessibility.
  5. Tap TalkBack.
  6. Tap Settings.
  7. Tap to adjust desired settings.

 

Text to speech settings

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Under 'PHONE,' tap Language & keyboard.
  4. Under 'SPEECH,' tap Text-to-speech output.
  5. Tap Speech rate.
  6. Tap Settings next to Samsung or Google TTS engine.
  7. Tap Language to adjust the spoken language.
  8. Tap to adjust other desired settings

 

Turn on driving mode

  1. Drag the Status bar down from top of screen.`
  2. Tap More quick settings.
  3. Tap Car mode.
  4. Tap Open S Voice.

 

Turn on TalkBack

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Under 'PERSONALIZATION,' tap Accessibility.
  4. Under 'MORE SETTINGS,' tap Direct access.
  5. Tap the Direct access switch to ON.
  6. Tap TalkBack to enable the feature.
