Backup & restore: LG G4

Learn how to back up and restore apps, contacts, photos, and data on the LG G4.

 

 

 

Back up apps

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. If using Tab view, tap Menu > List view.
  4. Scroll to DEVICE and then tap Backup & reset.
  5. Select the Back up my data check box.

 

Back up contacts

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. If using Tab view, tap Menu > List view.
  4. Scroll to DEVICE and then tap Backup & reset.
  5. Tap LG Backup > Backup & restore.
  6. Tap Back up data and check that LG Cloud is selected.
  7. If prompted, sign into your LG Account to continue backup.
  8. Select Personal data.
  9. Deselect the other options.
  10. Expand the Personal data folder and ensure Contacts is selected.
  11. Tap Start to begin the backup. This may take several minutes.
  12. After the backup completes, tap Done.

 

Back up contacts to SD card

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. If using Tab view, tap Menu > List view.
  4. Scroll to DEVICE and then tap Backup & reset.
  5. Tap LG Backup > Backup & restore.
  6. Tap Back data and check that SD Card is selected.
  7. Select the items to backup.
  8. Tap Start to begin the backup. This may take several minutes.
  9. After the backup completes, tap Done.

 

Back up media & pictures

 

From phone

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps.
  2. File Manager > All Files.
  3. Tap Internal storage.
  4. Navigate to the desired file or folders you want to move to your SD card.

Move

  1. Tap the manage files icon (down-arrow).
  2. To  the left of each desired file or folder, select the check box.
  3. Tap SD card.
  4. Navigate inside your SD card to where you want to move the files or folders.
  5. Tap Move.

Copy

  1. Tap the copy icon.
  2. To the left of each desired file or folder, select the check box.
  3. Tap SD card.
  4. Navigate inside your SD card to where you want to move the files or folders.
  5. Tap OK.

 

From computer - PC

  1. Connect your phone to a PC using the MicroUSB cable attached to your LG charger.
  2. If prompted, select Media sync (MTP).
  3. On the PC, open My computer.
  4. Right-click the backup file (ending with .sbf or .lbf) and select Copy.
  5. Right-click location to save backup file to on computer.
  6. Paste the backup file to the PC.

 

Restore apps

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. If using Tab view, tap Menu > List view.
  4. Scroll to DEVICE and then tap Backup & reset.
  5. Under LG BACKUP, tap Restore from backup.
  6. Locate and tap the contacts backup.
  7. Tap Start to begin the restore. This may take several minutes.
  8. After the restore completes, tap Done.
  9. The phone reboots to complete the restore.

 

Restore contacts

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. If using Tab view, tap Menu > List view.
  4. Scroll to DEVICE and then tap Backup & reset.
  5. Under LG Backup service, tap Restore from backup.
  6. Locate and tap the SD card backup.
  7. Tap Start to begin the restore. This may take several minutes.
  8. After the restore completes, tap Done.
  9. The phone reboots to complete the restore.

 

Restore media & pictures

 

From phone

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps.
  2. File Manager > All Files.
  3. Tap SD card.
  4. Navigate to the desired file or folders you want to move to your internal storage.

Move

  1. Tap the manage files icon (down-arrow).
  2. To  the left of each desired file or folder, select the check box.
  3. Tap Internal storage.
  4. Navigate inside  to where you want to move the files or folders.
  5. Tap Move.

Copy

  1. Tap the copy icon.
  2. To the left of each desired file or folder, select the check box.
  3. Tap SD card.
  4. Navigate to where you want to move the files or folders.
  5. Tap OK.

 

From computer - PC

  1. Connect your phone to a PC using the MicroUSB cable attached to your LG charger.
  2. If prompted, select Media sync (MTP).
  3. On the PC, open My computer.
  4. Right-click the backup file (ending with .sbf or .lbf) and select Copy.
  5. Right-click location to save backup file to on the phone folder on the PC
  6. Paste the backup file to the desired phone folder on the PC.
