Wipe cache partition: Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Learn how to wipe the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 using the hardware keys. If the phone is not working correctly, you may need to master reset it and also clear the cache partition. These two resets clear different parts of the [phone / tablet] storage. Unlike a master reset, wiping the cache partition does not delete your personal data.

 

  1. Turn the device off.
  2. Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time:
    • Volume Up key
    • Home key
    • Power key.
  3. When the phone vibrates, release the Power and Home key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key.
  4. Continue holding the Volume Up key until the Android System Recovery menu displays and then release. This step may take several seconds.
  5. Press the Volume Down key to highlight 'wipe cache partition.'
  6. Press the Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight 'yes' then press the Power key to select.
  8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, 'Reboot system now' is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.
