Device resets: Samsung Galaxy Avant

Learn how to master reset the Samsung Galaxy Avant using the menu or hardware keys.

 

 

 

Master reset from settings menu

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloads, ringtones, images, apps, contacts, and Visual Voicemail. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

 

  1. Back up data on the internal memory.
  2. From any home screen, tap Apps.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Under USER AND BACKUP, tap Backup and reset.
  5. Select or clear the following check boxes:
    • Backup my data
    • Automatic restore
  6. Under PERSONAL DATA, tap Factory data reset.
  7. Tap Reset device.
  8. Tap Delete all.
  9. The device shuts down, resets, and then reboots to its original factory settings.

 

Master reset with hardware keys

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloads, ringtones, images, apps, contacts, and Visual Voicemail. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

 

If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys. To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

 

  1. Back up data on the internal memory.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the following three at the same time:
    • Volume Up key
    • Home key
    • Power key
  4. When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to hold the Volume Up and Home keys.
  5. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  6. Press the Volume down key until wipe data / factory reset is selected.
  7. Press Power key.
  8. Press the Volume down key until Yes -- delete all user data is selected.
  9. Press Power key.
  10. When the master reset is complete, Reboot system now is selected.
  11. Press the Power key.
  12. The device shuts down, resets, and then reboots to its original factory settings.
