Keyboard: Samsung Galaxy Avant

Learn how to customize text entry and default keyboard settings on the Samsung Galaxy Avant.

 

 

 

Change default keyboard

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'SYSTEM,' then tap Language and input.
  4. Tap the Settings icon next to Samsung keyboard.
  5. Tap English (US).
  6. Tap one of these options:
    • Qwerty keyboard
    • 3 X 4 keyboard

 

Enter symbols & numbers

  1. From the alphabet keyboard, tap the 123 Sym key to enter numbers and symbols.
  2. Tap the 1/2 key for more symbols.
  3. Tap the ABC key to return to the alphabet keyboard.

Insert emotions

  1. From the alphabet keyboard, tap Menu.
  2. Tap Insert smiley.
  3. Tap the desired emoticon.

 

Text entry mode or predictive text mode

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Under SYSTEM, then tap Language and input.
  4. Tap the Settings icon next to Samsung keyboard.
  5. Under SMART TYPING, tap Predictive text.
  6. Tap the Predictive text switch to turn on.
  7. If necessary, select the Live word update checkbox.
  8. Select the Personalized data check box to enable these options:
    • Learn from Facebook
    • Learn from Gmail
    • Learn from Twitter
    • Learn from Messages
    • Learn from Contacts
    • Clear server data
    • Clear personal data

 

Turn on / off haptic (vibration) feedback

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Under SYSTEM, tap Language and input.
  4. Tap the Settings icon next to Samsung keyboard.
  5. Under KEY-TAP FEEDBACK, select or clear the Sound checkbox.
