Network & APN: Samsung Galaxy Tab S

    Use these steps to support network settings on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S.

     

     

     

    APN & data settings

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap the Connections tab.
    4. Tap More networks.
    5. Tap Mobile networks.
    6. Tap Access Point Names.
    7. If available, tap the T-Mobile US APN (the bullet point fills with green). If not available, tap the Menu key > New APN.
      Note: To reset the APN settings, tap the Menu key > Reset to default.
    8. Verify and update the following:
      • Name: T-Mobile US LTE
      • APN: fast.t-mobile.com
      • Proxy: <Not set>
      • Port: <Not set>
      • Username: <Not set>
      • Password: <Not set>
      • Server: <Not set>
      • MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
      • MMS proxy: <Not set>
      • MMS port: <Not set>
      • MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
      • MCC: 310
      • MNC: 260
      • Authentication type: <Not set>
      • APN type: <Not set> OR Internet+MMS
      • APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
      • APN roaming protocol: IPv4
      • Enable/disable APN: <greyed out unless there are multiple APN's>
      • Bearer: Unspecified
    9. Tap the Menu key.
    10. Tap Save.
    11. Tap the desired APN profile you want to use. The APN profile bullet turns green.

     

    Manual network selection

    The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

     

    1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Connections.
    2. Tap More networks > Mobile networks > Network operators.
    3. Tap Search now.
    4. Tap OK if prompted to turn data off.
    5. Tap to select the desired network.

     

    Switch 2G / 4G

    1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Connections.
    2. Tap More networks > Mobile networks > Network mode.
    3. Tap to select desired mode.

     

    Turn on / off airplane mode

    Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows app and menu use, but prevents voice or Internet use.

     

    1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Connections.
    2. Tap the Airplane mode switch to turn it on or off.
    3. Tap OK

     

    Turn on / off data roaming

    1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Connections.
    2. Tap More networks > Mobile networks.
    3. Tap Data roaming to turn it on or off.
    4. Tap OK.

     

    Turn on / off mobile data

    1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Connections.
    2. Tap More networks > Mobile networks.
    3. Tap Mobile data to turn it on or off.
    4. Tap OK.
