Device resets: Samsung Gear S

Learn how to master reset the Samsung Gear S using the menu or hardware keys.

 

 

 

Master reset from settings menu

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloads, ringtones, images, apps, contacts, and Visual Voicemail. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

 

  1. Back up data on the internal memory.
  2. From the Home screen, swipe up to locate and tap Settings.
  3. Tap Gear info.
  4. Tap Reset Gear.
  5. Tap OK.

 

Master reset with hardware keys

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloads, ringtones, images, apps, contacts, and Visual Voicemail. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

 

If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys.

 

  1. Back up data on the internal memory.
  2. Make sure that the Gear is powered off.
  3. Press and hold the Power key until you see Galaxy Gear rebooting.
  4. Release the Power key and then repeatedly press the Power key until you see the Reboot Select Mode screen.
  5. Press the Power key to highlight the recovery option.
  6. Long press the Power key (5-8 seconds) to select it. The device will reset and return to the factory initialization screen.
