Keyboard: Samsung Galaxy S 5

Learn how to customize text entry and default keyboard settings on the Samsung Galaxy S 5.

 

 

 

Change default keyboard

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'SYSTEM,' then tap Language and input.
  4. Tap the Settings icon next to 'Samsung keyboard.'
  5. Tap English(US)
  6. Tap one of the following options:    
    • Qwerty keyboard
    • 3 X 4 keyboard

 

Enter symbols & numbers

  1. From the alphabet keyboard, tap the 123 Sym key to enter numbers.
  2. Tap the Sym key to enter symbols.
  3. Tap the 1/2 for more symbols.
  4. Tap the ABC key to return to the alphabet keyboard.
  5. To insert emoticons:    
    1. Tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Insert smiley.
    3. Tap desired emoticon.

 

Text entry mode

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'SYSTEM,' then tap Language and input.
  4. Next to 'Samsung keyboard,' tap the Settings icon.
  5. To turn on predictive text:    
    1. Scroll to 'SMART TYPING'.
    2. Tap Predictive text.
    3. Tap the Predictive text Switch to On.
    4. The Switch moves right and turns green.
    5. If desired, select the Live word update check box.
    6. Select the Personalized data check box to enable these options:            
      • Learn from Facebook
      • Learn from Gmail
      • Learn from Twitter
      • Learn from Messages
      • Learn from Contacts
      • Clear server data
      • Clear personal data
    7. If desired tap the Privacy Policy to read it.

 

Turn on / off haptic (vibration) feedback

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'SYSTEM,' then tap Language and input.
  4. Next to 'Samsung keyboard,' tap the Settings icon.
  5. Under 'KEY-TAP FEEDBACK,' select the following check boxes:    
    • Sound
    • Vibration
