Backlight & display: Samsung Galaxy S 5

Learn how to customize the display and adjust the backlight on the Samsung Galaxy S 5.

 

 

 

Backlight: Change brightness

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'SOUND AND DISPLAY,' then Display.
  4. Tap Brightness.
  5. If necessary, tap Automatic brightness to clear the Check box and turn off.
  6. Touch and drag the Brightness level Slider to the desired setting.
  7. Tap OK.

 

Backlight: Timeout

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'SOUND AND DISPLAY,' then Display.
  4. Tap Screen timeout.
  5. Select the desired time setting:
    • 15 seconds
    • 30 seconds
    • 1 minute
    • 2 minutes
    • 5 minutes
    • 10 minutes

 

[Widget, Folder, or Shortcut]: Add

  1. Navigate to the desired Home screen where the widget or shortcut will be added.
  2. Touch and hold on a vacant area on the screen that is large enough to hold the widget or shortcut.
  3. Tap Apps and widgets.
  4. Tap one of the following options:
    • Apps tab
    • Widgets tab
  5. Touch and hold on the desired app or widget.
  6. Drag your finger to move the item to the desired location on the Home screen. Release your finger.

 

[Widget, Folder, or Shortcut]: Delete

  1. Navigate to the Home screen containing the widget or shortcut.
  2. Touch and hold on the widget or shortcut.
  3. Drag your finger to move the item over Remove.
  4. Release your finger.

 

Status Lights

  • Charging: Red LED lights up when you charge the device while screen is off.
  • Low battery: Red LED lights up when battery is low and screen is off.
  • Notifications: LED lights up when you have missed calls, messages, or application events and the screen is off.
  • Voice recording: Blue LED lights up when you are recording and the screen is off.

 

Wallpaper: Home screen

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'SOUND AND DISPLAY,' then tap Wallpaper.
  4. Tap Home screen.
  5. Select an image from the bottom of screen or tap More images to select from:
    • Dropbox
    • Gallery
    • Photos
  6. Tap the image you wish to use for the new Home screen wallpaper:
  7. Tap Set Wallpaper.

 

Wallpaper: Lock screen

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'SOUND AND DISPLAY,' then tap Wallpaper.
  4. Tap Lock screen.
  5. Select an image from the bottom of screen.
  6. Tap More images for more choices.
  7. Tap the image you wish to use for the new Lock screen wallpaper:
  8. Tap Set Wallpaper.
