Internal storage (ROM): Samsung Galaxy S 5

Learn how to view free space and free up storage on the Samsung Galaxy S 5.

 

 

 

Adjust storage settings

  1. From any Home screen, tap Messaging.
  2. Tap the Menu key.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Delete old messages.
  5. Slide the Delete old messages Switch right to the ON position.
  6. Tap Text message limit.
  7. Set the desired limit.
  8. Tap OK.
  9. Tap Multimedia message limit.
  10. Set the desired limit.
  11. Tap OK.

 

Clear storage regularly

  1. Clear storage at least once per week.
  2. Check the available internal device storage (see 'View free storage space' below).
  3. It must be over 150 MB for your device.
  4. The Android system cannot work properly if the internal device storage is below 150 MB. If under 150 MB, use the following tips to clear more storage:
    • Delete unnecessary text messages (SMS) and picture messages (MMS).
    • Transfer pictures and media to a computer, and remove it from the phone memory.
    • Clear the browser cache, cookies, or history.
    • Clear Facebook app cache.
    • Manage applications. See section below.
    • Delete the call logs.

 

Manage applications

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'APPLICATIONS,' then tap Application manager.
  4. If necessary, swipe left or right to the All screen or the Downloaded screen.
  5. To sort apps from largest users of ROM to lowest:
    1. Tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Sort by size.
    3. The apps using the most ROM appear at the top of the list.
  6. Tap the desired application to be uninstalled. Uninstalling an app deletes the app.
  7. Tap Uninstall.
  8. Tap OK.

 

View free storage space

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'SYSTEMS,' then tap Storage.
  4. Under 'DEVICE MEMORY,' view the Available space value.
