Backup & restore: Sony Xperia Z3

Learn how to back up and restore apps, contacts, photos, and data on the Sony Xperia Z3.

 

 

 

Back up apps

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'PERSONAL,' and then tap Backup & reset.
  4. Select the Backup my data check box.
  5. Tap Backup account and select the desired backup account. To add a new account, tap Add account, and then follow the on-screen prompts.

 

Back up contacts

  1. From the home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. scroll and tap Backup & restore.
  3. Tap Manual backup.
  4. Select the following that you would like to backup:
    • Contacts
    • Conversations
    • Calendar
    • Call log
    • Bookmarks
  5. Tap Continue.
  6. When the backup is complete, tap Finish.

 

Back up media & pictures

 

From phone

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll and tap File Commander.
  3. Tap Pictures or Videos.
  4. Tap Camera.
  5. Check the files that you would like to transfer and tap Copy at the bottom of the screen.
  6. Navigate back to the File commander home screen.
  7. Tap SD Card.
  8. Select the folder that you would like to move the pictures or videos to.
  9. Tap the notepad with pen icon.
  10. Tap Paste.

 

From computer - PC

  1. Connect the device to a computer using the USB cable.
  2. On the computer when the Windows Explorer window appears, double-click Browse files.
  3. Double-click Internal storage.
  4. Navigate to the media and pictures you want to back up.
  5. Copy the files from your device's Internal storage folder to a location on your computer.
  6. When you are done copying, click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray.
  7. Click Safely Remove Mass Storage Device.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Disconnect the device from the computer

 

Restore apps

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'PERSONAL,' and then tap Backup & reset.
  4. Tap Backup account and select the desired backup account. To add a new account, tap Add account, and then follow the on-screen prompts.
  5. Select the Automatic restore check box.

 

Restore contacts

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll and tap Backup & restore.
  3. Tap Restore data now.
  4. Select the following options to restore:
    • Contacts
    • Conversations
    • Calendar
    • Call log
    • Bookmarks
  5. Tap Continue.
  6. When the restore is complete, tap Finish.

 

Restore media & pictures

 

From phone

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll and tap File Commander.
  3. Tap SD Card.
  4. Navigate to the files that you would like to transfer, tap the check mark next to the name.
  5. Tap the Copy icon at the bottom of the screen.
  6. Navigate back to the File commander home screen.
  7. Tap Internal storage.
  8. Select the folder that you would like to move the pictures or videos to.
  9. Tap the notepad with pen icon.
  10. Tap Paste.

 

From computer - PC

  1. Connect the device to a computer using the USB cable.
  2. On the computer when the Windows Explorer window appears, double-click Browse files.
  3. Double-click Internal storage.
  4. Copy the files from your computer to the desired folder within your device's Internal storage folder.
  5. When you are done copying, click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray.
  6. Click Safely Remove Mass Storage Device.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Disconnect the device from the computer.
