Network & APN: Sony Xperia Z1s

Use these steps to support network settings on the Sony Xperia Z1s.

 

 

 

APN & data settings

Android 4.4 Kitkat

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > More > Mobile networks.
  2. Ensure that Mobile data traffic is checked.
  3. Tap Access Point Names. By default, the device should be set to the T-Mobile Data APN.
  4. Tap the Menu icon in the upper-right corner.
  5. Tap New APN.
  6. Verify and update the following settings for the Data APN:
    • Name: T-Mobile US LTE
    • APN: fast.t-mobile.com
    • Proxy: <Not set>
    • Port: <Not set>
    • Username: <Not set>
    • Password: <Not set>
    • Server: <Not set>
    • MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    • MMS proxy: <Not set>
    • MMS port: <Not set>
    • MCC: 310
    • MNC: 260
    • Authentication type: None
    • APN type: default, mms, supl
    • APN protocol: IPv6
    • APN roaming protocol: IPv4
    • Turn APN on/off: APN turned on
    • Bearer: Unspecified
    • Mobile virtual network operator type: None
    • Mobile virtual network operator value: None
  7. Tap the Menu icon in the upper-right corner.
  8. Tap Save.
  9. Select the newly added APN from the list.

 

Android 5.0 Lollipop

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Data usage.
  2. Tap the Mobile data traffic slider on.
  3. Tap Back > More > Mobile networks > Access Point Names. By default, the device should be set to the T-Mobile Data APN.
  4. Tap the More options icon in the upper-right corner.
  5. Tap New APN.
  6. Verify and update the following settings for the Data APN:
    • Name: T-Mobile US LTE
    • APN: fast.t-mobile.com
    • Proxy: <Not set>
    • Port: <Not set>
    • Username: <Not set>
    • Password: <Not set>
    • Server: <Not set>
    • MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    • MMS proxy: <Not set>
    • MMS port: <Not set>
    • MCC: 310
    • MNC: 260
    • Authentication type: None
    • APN type: default, mms, supl
    • APN protocol: IPv6
    • APN roaming protocol: IPv4
    • Turn APN on/off: APN turned on
    • Bearer: Unspecified
    • Mobile virtual network operator type: None
    • Mobile virtual network operator value: None
  7. Tap the More options icon in the upper-right corner.
  8. Tap Save.
  9. Select the newly added APN from the list.

 

Manual network selection

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Apps > Settings > More > Mobile networks > Service providers.
  2. Wait while the device searches for available networks.
  3. Tap Search Mode and select Manual.
  4. Tap on the desired network to connect.

 

Switch 2G / 4G

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > More > Mobile networks.
  2. Tap Network Mode or Preferred network type.
  3. Select from the available options:
    • WCDMA only (3G)
    • GSM only (2G)
    • WCDMA (preferred)/GSM (2G/3G)
    • LTE (preferred)WCDMA/GSM (LTE/2G/3G)

 

Turn on / off airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows app and menu use, but prevents voice or Internet use.

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > More.
  2. Select Airplane mode to turn on/off.

 

Turn on / off data roaming

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > More > Mobile networks > Data roaming.
  2. If necessary, tap OK to confirm.
