Network & APN: Samsung Galaxy Tab 4

Use these steps to support network settings on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4.

 

 

 

APN & data settings

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Connections.
  2. Tap More networks > Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
  3. If available, tap the T-Mobile US APN (the bullet point fills with green).
  4. If not available, tap the Menu key, and then tap New APN.
  5. To reset  APN settings, tap Menu > Reset to default.
  6. Verify and update these settings for the data APN:
    • Name: T-Mobile US LTE
    • APN: fast.t-mobile.com
    • Proxy: <Not set>
    • Port: <Not set>
    • Username: <Not set>
    • Password: <Not set>
    • Server: <Not set>
    • MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    • MMS proxy: <Not set>
    • MMS port: <Not set>
    • MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
    • MCC: 310
    • MNC: 260
    • Authentication type: <Not set>
    • APN type: <Not set> OR Internet+MMS
    • APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
    • APN roaming protocol: IPv4
    • Enable/disable APN: <greyed out unless there are multiple APNs>
    • Bearer: Unspecified
  7. Tap Menu > Save.
  8. Tap the desired APN profile you want to use (the bullet point fills with green).

 

Manual network selection

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

 

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Connections.
  2. Tap More networks > Mobile networks > Network operators.
  3. Tap Search now.
  4. Tap OK if prompted to turn data off.
  5. Tap to select the desired network.

 

Switch 4G / LTE

To change the band between 4G and LTE, follow these steps:

 

Note: 2G only connection is not available on this device.

 

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Connections.
  2. Tap More networks > Mobile networks > Network mode.
  3. Tap to select desired mode.

 

Turn on / off airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows app and menu use, but prevents voice or Internet use.

 

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Connections.
  2. Tap the Airplane mode switch to turn it on or off.
  3. Tap OK.

 

Turn on / off data roaming

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Connections.
  2. Tap More networks > Mobile networks.
  3. Tap the Mobile data roaming check box to turn it on or off.
  4. Tap OK.
