Share & stream media: Samsung Galaxy S4

    Learn how to read NFC tags, share your phone's display, and exchange media with other NFC and DLNA-compatible devices using the Samsung Galaxy S4.

     

     

     

    Mirror screen on other device

    Screen Mirroring mirrors your phone's display on other compatible devices.

     

    1. If necessary, turn on Wi-Fi.
    2. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    3. Tap Settings.
    4. If necessary, tap the Connections tab.
    5. Scroll to 'Connect and share,' then tap Screen Mirroring.
    6. This moves the Screen Mirroring slider right to the ON position.
    7. Tap Scan to search for available devices.
    8. Tap Stop to stop searching.
    9. To turn off, slide the Screen Mirroring slider left to the OFF position.

     

    Turn share on / off

    Android Beam and S Beam read tags and exchange content on your phone with other compatible devices or tags.

     

    1. If necessary, turn on Wi-Fi.
    2. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    3. Tap Settings.
    4. If necessary, tap the Connections tab.
    5. Scroll to Connect and share, then tap Nearby devices.
    6. To turn on, move the Nearby Devices slider right to the ON position.
    7. Select the following under Advanced Settings:
      • Shared contents
      • Allowed devices list
      • Not-allowed devices list
      • Download to
      • Upload from other devices
    8. To turn off move the Nearby Devices slider left to the OFF position.

     

    Turn on / off S Beam

    When this feature is on, you can beam files to other NFC and Wi-Fi Direct devices by holding the devices close together. For example, you can beam image/video files from the Gallery just by placing the devices back to back and tapping your screen. The app determines what gets beamed.

    1. If necessary, turn on Wi-Fi.
    2. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    3. Tap Settings.
    4. If necessary, tap the Connections tab.
    5. Scroll to 'Connect and share,' then tap S Beam.
    6. To turn on, move the S Beam slider right to the ON position.
    7. To turn off move the S Beam slider left to the OFF position.

     

    Read NFC tag

    1. Turn on NFC on your device.
    2. Place the rear of your phone against the rear of the other device or against the printed tag. Your device should vibrate or sound a confirmation depending on your settings.
    3. If necessary, follow any prompts (for example, if you are receiving a contact, you must select where to save the contact).

     

    Turn on / off NFC

    1. If necessary, turn on Wi-Fi.
    2. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    3. Tap Settings.
    4. If necessary, tap the Connections tab.
    5. Scroll to Connect and share, then tap NFC.
    6. To turn on, move the NFC slider right to the ON position.
    7. Turning on NFC enables the following:
      • Android Beam
      • Tap and pay
    8. To turn off, move the NFC slider left to the OFF position.
    9. Turning off NFC disables the following:
      • Android Beam
      • Tap and pay
