Smartphone Mobile Hotspot: Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Set up

Note: Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot settings cannot be changed when Wi-Fi sharing is turned on.

 

  1. Check that Wi-Fi and Smartphone Mobile Hotspot are turned off.
  2. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. On the Connections tab, tap Tethering and Mobile HotSpot.
  5. Tap Mobile HotSpot.
  6. If necessary, tap the Menu key to select Configure.
    Note: Tap Show advanced options to show all the setting options.
  7. Tap to adjust the following settings:
    • Network SSID
    • Broadcast network name (SSID) (on/off)
    • Security
    • Password
    • Broadcast channel (2.4 GHz/ 5 GHz) (Auto/1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9/10/11)
    • Maximum connections
    • Timeout settings (Never timeout/5 minutes/10 minutes/20 minutes/30 minutes/60 minutes)
  8. Tap Save.
  9. Tap Allowed devices.
  10. Edit the list of devices found. You can remove a profile to the trash or add a profile by selecting the plus sign.

 

Turn on / off

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. On the Connections tab, tap Tethering and Mobile HotSpot.
  4. To turn off, tap the Mobile Hotspot Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.
  5. To turn on, tap the Mobile HotSpot Switch to On. The Switch moves right and turns green.

 

First-time use
If you are turning on the HotSpot for the first time, you must create a password before using the Mobile HotSpot. When you turn on the HotSpot, you are prompted to create a Wi-Fi password. When the pop-up window appears, tap the Password field and enter the password (passwords must be at least eight characters) and then tap Save.
