Text to speech: Samsung Galaxy Tab 3

Use these steps to use text to speech to have messages read out loud on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.

 

 

 

Set up

  1. From any Home screen, tap the  Apps icon.
  2. Tap  Settings.
  3. Tap  Language and input.
  4. Tap  Text-to-speech output.
  5. Tap the desired TTS engine to select the engine:
    • Samsung text-to-speech engine
    • Google Text-to-speech Engine
  6. Next to the desired search engine, tap the  Settings settings+icon.jpg icon.
  7. Tap  Install voice data.
    Note: For the Samsung text-to-speech engine, the desired language may already be downloaded. Therefore, 'Install voice data' may be unavailable and you can skip to step 10.
  8. Next to the desired language, tap Download or the Download icon.
  9. When the language has downloaded, tap the  Back key.
  10. Tap  Language and then tap the desired language.

 

TalkBack settings

  • From any Home screen, tap the  Apps icon.
  • Tap  Settings.
  • Tap  Accessibility.
  • Tap  TalkBack.
  • Tap  Settings.
  • Tap to adjust the desired settings.

 

 

Text to speech settings

  1. From any Home screen, tap the  Apps icon.
  2. Tap  Settings.
  3. Tap  Language and input.
  4. Tap  Text-to-speech output.
  5. Tap  Speech rate and then adjust how fast the text will be spoken.
  6. Tap  Driving mode to adjust Driving mode settings.
  7. Tap the  Settngs settings+icon.jpg icon next to the desired TTS engine (Samsung or Google).
    Note: To tap the Settings  settings+icon.jpg icon, the TTS engine must be selected.
  8. Tap  Language to adjust the spoken language.
  9. Tap to adjust any other desired settings.

 

Turn on driving mode

  1. From any Home screen, tap the  Apps icon.
  2. Tap  Settings.
  3. Tap  Language and input.
  4. Tap  Text-to-speech output.
  5. Tap the Driving mode  Switch to On. The Switch moves right and turns green

Turn on TalkBack

  1. From any Home screen, tap the  Apps icon.
  2. Tap  Settings.
  3. Tap  Accessibility.
  4. Tap  TalkBack.
  5. Tap the Talkback  Switch to On. The Switch moves right and turns green.
