Data Maximizer for Prepaid plans

Data Maximizer is a feature that lets you view high-quality, optimized video streaming while stretching your high-speed data farther.

What is Data Maximizer?

If you activated a Prepaid plan on or after January 24, 2016, then you already have our Data Maximizer, a network enhancement that optimizes all detectable video streaming to DVD-quality (typically 480p). This feature is automatically enabled, allowing your high-speed data to last up to 3 times longer.

If you stream video through Wi-Fi, your viewing experience automatically defaults to the highest available video quality based on the internet service provider. If your connection switches from Wi-Fi to the T-Mobile network, it automatically adjusts to the Data Maximizer-optimized video resolution (when the feature is enabled).

Turning it off

Data Maximizer is automatically enabled on your account. If you have a prepaid plan with a set high-speed data limit, you can elect to turn off Data Maximizer. Turning it off allows you to view video in the highest possible resolution the video's provider offers. When Data Maximizer is off, video streaming is no longer optimized, which means your high-speed data bucket will be used up more quickly. You can disable (or enable) Data Maximizer through My T-Mobile. Plans that include unlimited high-speed data and those that rely on data passes for their high-speed data can't turn off Data Maximizer.

To disable Data Maximizer through My T-Mobile:

  1. Go to My T-Mobile and log in to your account.
  2. Click Plan.
  3. Select Change Services for the line you want to make changes to.
  4. Choose the Simply Prepaid Data Maximizer Disabled service to disable Data Maximizer. Click Next.
