Learn how to format the SD card and manage files using the SD card, internal storage, and a computer.

 

 

 

 

Format SD card

 

Formatting the SD card deletes all data on it. You may wish to format the SD card if you want to delete the files, if files or apps on the SD card are not working, or if the SD card is not working.

 

To format the SD card while inserted in the device, follow these steps:

Insert / remove SD card

 

To insert or remove the SD card, follow these steps:

 

  1. Remove the rear panel using the notch located at the bottom-corner of the device.       aspect cover off.png
  2. Remove the battery by using the notch located at the bottom-center of the battery compartment.aspect batt out.png      Aspect SD slot.jpg
  3. Slide the SD memory card into place with the narrow edge of the card entering the compartment first. Slide all the way to the rear of the compartment. Or slide the card out to remove.                                aspect batt in.png            aspect batt contacts.png
  4. Insert the battery while ensuring the gold contacts are aligned.
  5. Install back cover and snap into place.

 

 

Open / delete files

 

Open or delete files using the computer

To open or delete files on the SD card using a computer, follow these steps:

 

You must use the USB cable that comes with your phone.

 

PC

  1. Connect the phone to your computer using the USB cable.
  2. If the pop-up window appears, scroll to and click Open folder to view files.
  3. Otherwise, navigate to and open the phone’s disk drive by clicking Start, My Computer, and then Removable disk.
  4. Click to open the desired folder(s).
  5. When finished, safely disconnect the phone from the computer.


Mac

  1. Connect the phone to your Mac computer using the USB cable.
  2. On the Mac computer, if necessary, close any pop-up applications (for example, iPhoto) to reveal the ‘Go’ menu option.
  3. From the top of the screen, click Go.
  4. Click Computer.
  5. Click the Removable disk   icon that represents your memory card.
  6. Click to open the desired folder(s).
  7. When finished, click the Back   icon to navigate back to the Removable disk  icon.
  8. Press and hold the control key and then click on the Removable disk   icon representing your memory card.
  9. Click Eject [name of memory card]”.
  10. Safely disconnect the phone from the computer.

 

Open or delete files using the device

To open or delete files on the SD card using the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect the phone to your computer using the USB cable.
  2. If the pop-up window appears, scroll to and click Open folder to view files.
  3. Otherwise, navigate to and open the phone’s disk drive by clicking Start, My Computer, and then Removable disk.
  4. Click to open the desired folder(s) and delete the desired files.
  5. When finished, safely disconnect the phone from the computer.

 

To delete files on a memory card using a Mac computer, follow these steps:


  1. Connect the phone to your Mac computer using the USB cable.
  2. On the Mac computer, if necessary, close any pop-up applications (for example, iPhoto) to reveal the ‘Go’ menu option.
  3. From the top of the screen, click Go.
  4. Click Computer.
  5. Click the Removable disk   icon that represents your memory card.
  6. Click to open the desired folder(s).
  7. To delete a file, press and hold the control key and then click on the file to be deleted and then click Move to trash.
  8. When finished, click the Back   icon to navigate back to the Removable disk icon.
  9. Press and hold the control key and then click on the Removable disk   icon representing your memory card.
  10. Click Eject “[name of memory card]”.
  11. Safely disconnect the phone from the computer.

 

 

Set default memory storage

 

By default, the device stores data on the internal storage. To set the default memory storage to another location, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, select Main Menu.
  2. Scroll to and select Settings.
  3. Scroll to and select Phone settings.
  4. Scroll to and select Default storage location.
  5. Scroll to and select one of the following options:
    • Memory Card
    • Phone

 

 

Transfer files

 

Transfer files between computer & SD card

To transfer files and pictures between the computer and SD card, follow these steps:

 

Important: You must use the USB cable that comes with your phone.

 

PC

  1. Connect the phone to your computer using the USB cable.
  2. If the pop-up window appears, scroll to and click Open folder to view files.
  3. Otherwise, navigate to and open the phone’s disk drive by clicking Start, My Computer, and then Removable disk.
  4. Click to open the desired memory card folder where the computer files will be copied.
  5. Copy the desired computer files by either copying (Ctrl + C) and then pasting (Ctrl + V) the file or dragging and dropping the file into the memory card folder.
  6. When finished, safely disconnect the phone from the computer.

 

Mac

  1. Connect the phone to your Mac computer using the USB cable.
  2. On the Mac computer, if necessary, close any pop-up applications (for example, iPhoto) to reveal the ‘Go’ menu option.
  3. From the top of the screen, click Go.
  4. Click Computer.
  5. Click the Removable disk   icon that represents your memory card.
  6. Click to open the desired folder(s).
  7. Drag and drop or copy and paste each file into the desired location on your Mac computer.
  8. When finished, click the Back   icon to navigate back to the Removable disk icon.
  9. Press and hold the control key and then click on the Removable disk   icon representing your memory card.
  10. Click Eject “[name of memory card]”.
  11. Safely disconnect the phone from the computer.

 

 

Transfer files between internal storage & SD card

To transfer files between internal storage & SD card, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, select Main Menu.
  2. Scroll to and select File Manager to enter the Phone memory tab.
  3. From the Phone memory tab, select the folder containing the desired file.
  4. Scroll to the desired file to highlight the file. Do not select the file.
  5. Select Options.
  6. Scroll to and select Copy to.
  7. Note: If desired, select Move to to relocate the existing file instead of copying it.
  8. Scroll to and select Memory Card.
  9. Navigate to the desired folder.
  10. Select OK to finish copying (or moving) the file.

 

 

View free SD card space

To view the amount of free SD card storage, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, select Main Menu.
  2. Scroll to and select File Manager.
  3. Select Options.
  4. Scroll to and select Memory info.
  5. View the Memory Card and Available values at the bottom of the screen.
