Lookout Mobile Security is an app available for Android and iOS that helps protect your device and personal data.

Lookout features

There are two versions of Lookout:

  • A free version that provides essential security features (preinstalled on Android; download from the App Store for iOS)
  • A premium version that offers additional, advanced security features. This version is available separately for an additional monthly or yearly fee from your device's app store.

Use Lookout to:

  • Remotely sound an alarm on your device (even when it’s in silent mode).
  • Find your device on a map.
  • Automatically save your device’s location before the battery dies, so you have a better chance of locating it, even after the device is offline.
  • Post a custom locked-screen message to help get your device back.
  • Alert you if your device’s operating system is out-of-date or insecure and helps you configure your security settings.
  • Protects your device from viruses, malware, and spyware.
  • Initiate real-time or scheduled security scans to automatically get security updates.
  • Find your lost or stolen device with GPS. If it's nearby, use Scream to sound an alarm, even if the device is in silent mode.
  • Schedule backups to save or restore your contacts on the Lookout website.

Lookout Premium additional features

  • Get Theft Alerts emailed to you when Lookout finds activity that could mean your device was stolen.
  • Safe Browsing scans every site you visit, protecting you from possible phishing attempts and other online threats.
  • Use Privacy Advisor to scan all apps that access personal information, such as your location, messages, and contact.
  • Schedule backups to save or restore your contacts, photos, and call history.
  • If your device is lost or stolen, you can:
    • Remotely wipe your personal data and SD card.
    • Remotely lock your device.

Report a lost or stolen device

If you can't find your device, you can report it as lost or stolen, suspend your line, and order a replacement device.

Theft Alerts (a Lookout Premium feature) sends you an email letting you know when one of these actions takes place:

  1. The SIM Card is removed.
  2. Airplane Mode is enabled.
  3. Your device is turned off.
  4. Device Admin is disabled.
  5. An incorrect passcode is entered three times.
Note: In this instance, Lookout sends you an email with the location of your device, as well as whatever image it captured with the front-facing camera.

Change your Theft Alert email preferences:

  1. Open Lookout.
  2. Select Theft Alerts.
  3. Select Yes or No next to each alert.

Safe Browsing (a Lookout Premium feature)

Surf the web knowing that every site you visit is safe, including links from emails, texts, and Facebook. Safe Browsing is enabled by default, and it works on Google Chrome and the default Android browser.

  2. Deselect Block dangerous URLs.

Privacy Advisor (a Lookout Premium feature)
