Learn how to format the SD card and manage files using the SD card, internal storage, and a computer.

 

 

 

 

Format SD card

 

Formatting the SD card deletes all data on it. You may wish to format the SD card if you want to delete the files, if files or apps on the SD card are not working, or if the SD card is not working.

 

To format the SD card while inserted in the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. Back up data on the storage or SD card, if desired.
  2. Plug the device into a computer with a USB cable.
  3. From the Notification bar, verify that Disk Drive or Mass Storage mode are selected.

  4. On the computer Start menu, navigate to Computer or My Computer.
  5. Find the Removable disk located under devices with removable storage.

  6. Right-click the removable disk.
  7. Click Format.

  8. Verify the file system is set at FAT32 and Quick Format is selected.

  9. Click Start.
  10. Wait a few minutes for the computer to format the SD card.
    Note: If errors appear during this process, the SD card is likely defective.

 

 

Insert / remove SD card

 

To insert or remove the SD card, follow these steps:

 

Press the battery cover release on the bottom of your phone and then lift the back cover up and toward the top of the phone to remove it.

  2.  Gently press the memory card into the slot, as shown, until it clicks.

Open / delete files

 

Open or delete files using the computer

To open or delete files on the SD card using a computer, follow these steps:

 

You must use the USB cable that comes with your phone.

 

  • Connect the included USB cord to the phone, then to your computer.
  • On your phone, a Choose a connection type message appears.
  • Tap Disk drive.
  • Tap Done.
  • Note: Some applications in use may be stopped or may not be available until you disconnect USB storage.

  5.  On a Windows computer, a Removable Disk window appears. Double-click Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer.

  6.  On a Mac OS X computer, double-click the virtual drive icon that appears on the desktop.

  7.  On the computer, double-click the desired folder to access your phone’s files.

  8.  On a Windows computer, when you are finished, click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray in the lower right-hand corner

      of your computer desktop.

  9.  Click Safely Remove USB Mass storage Device.

10.  On a Mac OS X computer, when you are finished, drag and drop the virtual drive icon into the Trash/Eject.

11.  Disconnect the USB cord from your computer and then from your phone.

 

Open or delete files using the device

To open or delete files on the SD card using the device, follow these steps:

 

Music files

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications Sensations_App_Icon.png icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Music.
  3. Tap the Library sensation_library.png icon.
  4. Tap the All Songs (music notes) icon.
  5. Scroll to and touch and hold the desired song file.
  6. Tap Delete.
  7. Tap OK.


Photo and video files

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications Sensations_App_Icon.png icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Gallery.
  3. Tap one of the following options:
    • Camera shots
    • All photos
    • All videos
    • Other
  4. Scroll to and touch and hold the desired file.
  5. Tap Delete.
  6. Tap OK.

 

 

Set default memory storage

 

By default, the device stores data on the internal storage. To set the default memory storage to another location, follow these steps:

Transfer files

 

Transfer files between computer & SD card

To transfer files and pictures between the computer and SD card, follow these steps:

 

Important: You must use the USB cable that comes with your phone.

 

  1. Connect the included USB cord to the phone, then to your computer.

To view the amount of free SD card storage, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu Sensation_Menu_Icon.png key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Storage.
  4. View Total space and Available for the memory card.
