Master reset: T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

Learn how to master reset the T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide through the menu or hardware keys.

 

 

 

 

Master reset from settings menu

 

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloads, ringtones, images, apps, contacts, and Visual Voicemail. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

 

To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

 

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory.
  2. Turn off automatic backup, because it may make your issues return after the reset:
    1. From the Home screen, press Menu Menu Icon.png.
    2. Touch Settings.
    3. Touch Privacy.
    4. Verify that both the Backup my settings and Automatically restore check boxes are cleared.
  3. From  the Home screen, press the Menumytouch4gmenu.png key.
  4. Touch Settings.
  5. Touch SD& phone storage.
  6. Touch Factory data reset.
  7. Touch Reset phone.
  8. Touch Erase everything. The phone turns off and back on.

 

 

Master reset with hardware keys

 

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloads, ringtones, images, apps, contacts, and Visual Voicemail. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

 

If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys. To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

 

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory.
  2. Back up all necessary data. See: Preparing for a master reset on Android.
  3. If the phone is plugged into the  charger or USB cable, unplug it.
  4. Remove the battery.
    • Important: Removing the battery is required. Turning off the phone with the Power key does not work, because of the Fast Boot feature.
  5. Re-insert the battery.
  6. Press and hold both the Volume Down key and the Power key.
  7. Release the Power key but do not release the Volume key.
  8. Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen. The following options dsplay:
    • FASTBOOT
    • RECOVERY
    • FACTORY RESET
    • SIMLOCK
    • IMAGE CRC
    • Note: If the you are stuck on a screen that says 'HBOOT' and 'FASTBOOT' without any other options to choose from, it means you have pressed the Back button. To get to the regular options, press either thePower key on HBOOT or the Back button.
    1. Press the Volume Down key twice to select FACTORY RESET.
    2. Press the Power key to initiate the master reset.
    3. Wait as the device displays the boot up screen, then shows a picture of arrows above a device with a progress bar. It then restarts.
