When your device is sharing the mobile internet connection, refer to the following:

Set up mobile hotspot

 

To set up or configure a mobile hotspot over Wi-Fi, follow these steps:

Note: Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot settings cannot be changed when Wi-Fi sharing is turned on.

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Under Wireless & networks, tap More.
  4. Tap Tethering & portable hotspot.
  5. Tap Configure Wi-Fi hotspot.
  6. Enter a name for the network SSID.
  7. Tap the Security drop-down menu.
  8. Tap one of the following options:
    • Open
    • WPA PSK
    • WPA2 PSK
  9. If applicable, tap the Password field to open the on-screen keyboard and enter your password. Your password must be at least 8 characters long.
  10. Tap Save.
  11. On your computer, connect to your tablet (SSID) via Wi-Fi hotspot.

 

 

Turn on / off mobile hotspot

 

To turn on or turn off a mobile hotspot over Wi-Fi, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Under Wireless & networks, tap More.
  4. Tap Tethering & portable hotspot.
  5. Tap to select the Portable Wi-Fi hotspot check box.
    Note: Your tablet starts broadcasting its Wi-Fi network name (SSID) so you can connect it to other computers or devices. Your tablet’s default SSID is SpringBoard.
  6. Your tablet is now sharing its mobile network data connection with your computer via the Wi-Fi connection.
