Learn how to customize text entry and default keyboard settings on the T-Mobile G2.

 

 

 

 

Change default keyboard

 

To change the default keyboard, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch and hold an active text field to open the Android keyboard.
  2. Touch and hold the text field until the Edit text menu displays.
  3. Tap Input method.
  4. Select from the following keyboard input modes:
    • Swype
    • Android keyboard

 

 

Enter symbols & numbers

 

To enter symbols and numbers with the keyboard, follow these steps:

 

Qwerty

  1. Slide open the phone to access the QWERTY keyboard.
  2. From within any text entry screen, tap the text entry field.
  3. Press the ALT key to enter symbols that show in white on the keyboard.

 

Android keyboard - 3 X 4

  1. From within any text entry screen, tap the text entry field.
  2. Tap SYM to switch to symbols and numbers.
  3. Tap the desired symbol or number.
  4. Tap 123 ABC to switch back to text entry.

 

 

Text entry mode

 

To change the text entry or predictive text mode, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Language & keyboard.
  4. Select from the following options:
    • Select language
    • Swype
    • Swype settings
    • Android keyboard
    • Android keyboard settings
    • Device keyboard

 

Android keyboard

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Language & keyboard.
  4. Tap Android keyboard settings.
  5. Tap to select or clear the following options:
    • Vibrate on keypress
    • Sound on keypress
    • Auto-capitalization
    • Voice input
    • Input languages
    • Quick fixes
    • Show suggestions
    • Auto-complete

 

Swype keyboard

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Language & keyboard.
  4. Tap Swype settings.
  5. Tap to select or clear the following options:
    • Language
    • Word Prediction
    • Audio feedback
    • Vibrate on keypress
    • Enable Tip Indicator
    • Auto-spacing
    • Auto-capitalization
    • Show complete trace
    • Word Choice Window
    • Speed vs. Accuracy
    • Swype help
    • Tutorial

 

 

Turn on / off haptic feedback

 

To turn on or turn off haptic feedback vibration, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press Menu.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Sounds.
  4. Tap Haptic feedback to enable/disable the feature.
