Master reset: T-Mobile G2

Learn how to master reset the T-Mobile G2 through the menu or hardware keys.

 

 

 

 

Master reset from settings menu

 

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

 

To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

 

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory.
  2. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Privacy.
  5. Clear the Back up my data check box. If this data is backed up, the phone will not completely reset.
  6. Tap Factory data reset.
  7. Clear or select the Erase SD card check box.
  8. Tap Reset phone.
  9. Tap Erase everything.
  10. If prompted, enter the password.
    Note: The default password is 1234.
  11. Tap OK.
  12. If necessary, enter and confirm the password again.
  13. Tap OK.

 

 

Master reset with hardware keys

 

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

 

If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys. To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

 

  1. Back up all dataBackup & restore: Samsung Galaxy S III on the internal memory.
  2. If the phone is plugged into the charger or USB cable, unplug it.
  3. Turn off the phone.

          Note: If the phone is unresponsive and does not turn off, remove the battery and then re-insert it.

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down, key.
  2. While pressing the Volume Down key, press and release the Power key. Continue holding Volume Down.
  3. When the Android images appear on the screen, release the Volume Down key.
  4. Press the Volume Down key twice to scroll to Factory Reset.

         Note: It may take a moment for the cursor to allow you to scroll down.

  1. Press the Power key to initiate the master reset. The device restarts, shows a black reset screen, and then restarts again.
