Master reset: HTC Amaze 4G

Master reset from settings menu

 

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

 

To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

 

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory.
  • From any Home screen, tap the Menu image008.jpg key.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Privacy.
  • Tap Automatic restore to clear (turn off) the check box.
  • Tap Backup my settings to clear (turn off) the check box.
  • Tap the Back  key.
  • Tap Storage.
  • Tap Factory data reset.
  • Read the message about erasing data.
  • Tap Erase all data to erase the data in the phone’s internal storage.
  • Tap Reset phone.
  • Tap Erase everything.

 

 

Master reset with hardware keys

 

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

 

If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys. To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

 

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory.
  2. If the phone is responsive and can synchronize files, save any open files and back up all necessary data to a computer.
  3. Turn off the phone.
  4. Remove the battery, wait a few seconds, and then re-insert the battery.
  5. Press and hold the Volume Down key and then briefly press the Power key.
  6. When you see the screen with the three Android images, release the Volume Down key.
  7. Press the Volume Down key to select Factory Reset.
  8. Press the Power key.
