Upgrade firmware

 

Follow a guided tutorial

 

  1. Restart the router to automatically download the latest firmware version.
  2. If restarting the router does not download the latest firmware upgrade, ensure you're connected to the router and enter either of these URLs into the computer's web browser:
  3. Log in to the configuration page using your login name and password. The default router login is name (admin) and password (password).
  4. Click Administration.
  5. Click Firmware Upgrade > Check to automatically search for updates.
  6. Select the latest firmware.
  7. Click Upload to start the firmware installation.

 

Minor software improvements

Change network password

  1. Enter either URL in the computer's web browser:
  2. When prompted, enter the user name and password. If you previously changed the default password, enter the password you created. If you have not changed the password, enter the defaults:
    • Default user name = admin
    • Default password = password
  3. On the Network Admin page, navigate to the System Status section of the Network Map.
  4. Select the 2.4GHz tab.
    1. Select WPA2-Personal from the Authentication Method drop-down.
    2. Enter a password at least eight characters in the WPA-PSK key field.
  5. Select the 5GHz tab.
    1. Select WPA2-Personal from the Authentication Method drop-down.
    2. Enter a password at least eight characters in the WPA-PSK key field. You can use the same password you entered in step 4.
  6. Click Apply. The router restarts.
  7. Once finished, reconnect using your own password. If you lose this password, the router must be reset to its default settings

 

Create a guest network

This function is available in both AP and router mode. You can create up to six guest accounts with different permissions for each. To create a guest network, follow these steps:

 

  1. Ensure you're connected to the router.
  2. Access the router admin page at http://cellspot.router.
  3. Go to General > Guest Network > Enable.
  4. Complete the Guest Network fields.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. View the guest account

 

Enable parental control

Parental control allows you to set the time limit for a client's network usage. Before setting the controls, ensure router system time and computer system time are the same. To set parental controls, follow these steps:

 

  1. Ensure you're connected to the router.
  2. Access the router admin page at http://cellspot.router.
  3. Go to General > Parental Control.
  4. Click Enable Parental Control.
  5. Select the client whose network usage you want to control in the Client's Name drop-down menu.
  6. In the Client's MAC Address field, enter the client's MAC address.
  7. In the Add/Delete section, click the plus icon to add the client.
  8. In the Time Management section, click the Edit icon to edit the Active Schedule.
  9. Select the desired time slots for allowed access times.
  10. Drag and hold to create longer time slots.
  11. Click OK to save the settings.

 

Enable iTunes server

  1. Plug in the hard drive to the router’s USB port.
  2. Ensure you're connected to the router.
  3. Access the router admin page at http://cellspot.router.
  4. Go to General > USB Application > Server Center.
  5. Go to Media Server.
  6. Enable the iTunes Server.
  7. Name your iTunes Server.
  8. Access media files in the HDD connecting to RT-AC68U from Shared Libraries in iTunes.

 

Restart router and modem

  1. Turn off the router by pressing the Power button, thenunplug the modem.
  2. Turn off and unplug the router and any connected computers.
  3. Plug in and turn on the modem.
  4. Wait for two minutes.
  5. Plug in and turn on the router by pressing the Power button.
  6. Wait for two minutes.
  7. Turn on the computer and connected devices

 

Reset router

  1. Press and hold the Reset button on the back of the router for eight seconds.
  2. Ensure the Power light blinks to indicate the start of the reset, then release the Reset button.
  3. Wait 10 seconds for the router indicator lights on the front of the router to return.
  4. Once the power button is solid blue, the reset is complete.
  5. The router is now reset to its factory default settings.

  • User Name: admin
  • Password: password
  • Enable DHCP: Yes (if WAN cable is plugged in)
  • IP address: 192.168.29.1
  • Domain Name: (Blank)
  • Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
  • DNS Server 1: 192.168.29.1
  • DNS Server 2: (Blank)
  • SSID (2.4GHz): CellSpot_2.4GHz_(four digit MAC ID)
  • SSID (5GHz): CellSpot_5GHz_(four digit MAC ID)
