Tips to save battery life

 

To save and extend battery life, follow these steps:

 

Lower screen brightness and timeout duration

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. Touch and drag the Brightness Slider to the desired setting.
  5. Tap Screen lock timeout.
  6. Tap the lowest desired setting (lowest is 10 seconds).

 

Turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. To turn off Wi-Fi, tap the Wi-Fi icon. The icon is removed of color .
  3. To turn off Bluetooth, tap the Bluetooth icon. The icon is removed of color.
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. Tap Location services and then tap the Location Services Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.
  6. Tap the Back < icon.
  7. Tap Network connections.
  8. Swipe up and tap Mobile Hotspot.
  9. Tap the Mobile Hotspot Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.

 

Change application sync settings

  1. Navigate to Home screen 3 and then tap Setup.
  2. Tap Accounts.
  3. Tap the desired application.
  4. If necessary, tap the desired application sub-category (for example, email contacts).
  5. Edit the application sync settings to save battery life by performing the following actions:

    • Turn off auto syncing for any unnecessary features (tap to clear the check box next to the setting)
    • Increase the sync interval time for a setting(for example, from 5 minutes to 30 minutes)

 

Turn off background data

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Network connections.
  4. Tap Mobile Network.
  5. Tap the Data Services Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.

 

Minimize use of third party applications

Note: Delete (permanently remove) or Uninstall (Disable) third party applications if you are not using them.

  1. Navigate to Home screen 1 and tap BlackBerry World.
  2. Tap the Menu icon at bottom-left and then tap My World.
  3. Tap My Apps & Games.
  4. If necessary, tap Downloaded or else tap Apps & Games to open the menu and then tap Downloaded
    Note: Factory installed apps also appear in this list.
  5. From the list, touch and hold on the desired application.
  6. Tap the Trash can icon.
  7. Choose one of the following options.

    • Tap Uninstall. Tap this option if you would like to reinstall the application again in the future. The app should appear in the Available tab. 

    • Tap Delete. Tap this option if you want to permanently delete the application. 

 

Toggle from 4G to 2G

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Network connections.
  4. Tap Mobile Network.
  5. Tap the Network mode field.
  6. Swipe up on the menu and tap 2G to select 2G mode.
  7. Tap 4G LTE & 4G / 3G & 2G to return to auto connection mode.

 

Update to the latest software

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Swipe up and tap Software updates.
  4. Tap Check for updates. Follow any additional prompts.

 

Set device to sleep when unused

Press and then quickly release the Power key to set the screen to sleep mode.
