Tips to save battery life

 

To save and extend battery life, follow these steps:

 

Lower screen brightness and timeout duration

Lower screen brightness

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and slide down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. Under 'Brightness Settings,' touch the Brightness slider and slide left to decrease brightness.


Lower backlight duration

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and slide down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. Tap Screen Lock Timeout, and then select a low duration.

 

Turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot

Turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi when not in use

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and slide down.
  2. Tap the Bluetooth icon to turn off.
    Note: When Bluetooth is on, the icon fills with color.
  3. Tap the Wi-Fi icon to turn off.
    Note: When Wi-Fi is on, the icon fills with color.


Turn off GPS when not in use

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and slide down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll down to and tap Location Services.
  4. Tap the Location Services switch to turn off.


Turn off portable Wi-Fi Hotspot when not in use

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and slide down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Network Connections.
  4. Tap Mobile Hotspot.
  5. Tap the Mobile HotSpot switch to turn off.

 

Change application sync settings

  1. From any Home screen, touch the screen and slide right until you reach the BlackBerry Hub.
  2. Tap the Menu icon at bottom-right.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Email Accounts.
  5. Select the account to edit.
  6. Tap Edit Account.
  7. Scroll down to and tap the Sync Interval field.
  8. Perform one of the following actions:
    • Select a less frequent interval.
    • Tap Manual to turn off automatic sync.
  9. Tap Edit Folder Settings.
  10. If necessary, tap the Sync All Email Folders switch to turn off.
  11. Clear the check boxes for folders that you do not need to sync.

 

Toggle from 4G to 2G

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and slide down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Network Connections.
  4. Tap Mobile Network.
  5. Tap the Network Mode field.
  6. Tap 2G.

 

Update to the latest software

Note: Keep your device connected to a power source while your software is updating.

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and slide down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll down and tap Software Updates.
  4. If necessary, tap Setup Wi-Fi and connect to a Wi-Fi network.
  5. Tap Update.
  6. Review the BlackBerry Agreement screen, and then tap I Agree.
  7. When the download and installation processes are complete, tap Restart Now.
  8. After the device restarts, tap OK.
  9. If necessary, review the Remote Log Collection feature details, and then tap Dismiss.

 

Set device to sleep when unused

  1. Press and quickly release the Power key. The screen will go black.
  2. Press and quickly release the Power key again to activate the screen.
