Battery saving mode

 

To turn on, turn off, or use battery life saving features on the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap Power.
  4. Tap the Power saver switch to turn on or turn off.

 

 

Battery saving mode settings

 

To change settings for the battery life saving feature, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap Power.
  4. Tap Power saver.
  5. Select or clear the following options:
    • CPU power
    • Display
    • Vibration
    • Data connection

 

 

Tips to save battery life

 

To save and extend battery life, follow these steps:

 

Lower screen brightness

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'Phone,' and tap Display, gestures & buttons.
  4. Tap Brightness.
  5. If necessary, clear the Automatic brightness bubble.
  6. Touch the Brightness slider and slide left to decrease the brightness.

Lower backlight duration

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'Phone,' and tap Display, gestures & buttons.
  4. Tap Sleep.
  5. Select one of the lower backlight duration values:
    • 15 seconds
    • 30 seconds

 

Turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Under 'Wireless & networks,' tap the Bluetooth switch to turn off.
  4. Tap the Wi-Fi switch to turn off.
  5. Tap More.
  6. Tap Mobile network sharing.
  7. Clear the Mobile Hotspot bubble to turn off the portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

 

Change application sync settings

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'Personal,' and tap Accounts & sync.
  4. Tap the Auto sync switch to turn off.
  5. If necessary, select an account and reduce specific sync settings

 

Turn off background data

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Under 'Wireless & networks,' tap More.
  4. Tap Usage.
  5. Tap the Menu key.
  6. Tap Restrict background data to turn on.

 

Minimize use of third party applications

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'Phone,' and tap Power.
  4. Tap Usage.
  5. Tap the Close icon (X) next to third party applications to temporarily stop them from using the battery.

 

Toggle from 4G to 2G

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Under 'Wireless & networks,' tap Mobile data.
  4. Tap Network mode.
  5. Select one of the following options:
    • WCDMA only
    • GSM only
    • GSM / WCDMA auto

 

Update to the latest software

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'Phone,' and tap About.
  4. Tap Software updates.
  5. Tap Check now.
  6. If an update is available, follow any additional prompts to install.

 

Set device to sleep when unused

  1. Press and quickly release the Power key.
  2. To activate the screen, press and quickly release the Power key again.
