Learn how to customize text entry and default keyboard settings on the HTC One S.

 

 

 

 

Change default keyboard

 

To change the default keyboard, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap Language & keyboard.
  4. Tap HTC Sense Input.
  5. Tap Keyboard selection.
  6. Tap Keyboard types.
  7. Select one of the following options:
    • Standard (QWERTY)
      • The standard QWERTY keyboard is the default keyboard. Its layout is similar to that of a desktop computer keyboard.
        Note: In landscape mode (when the phone is held horizontally) the standard QWERTY keyboard displays even if the phone keyboard or the compact QWERTY keyboard is selected.
    • Standard (AZERTY)
    • Standard (QWERTZ)
    • Phone

 

 

Enter symbols & numbers

 

To enter symbols and numbers with the keyboard, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any text screen, tap a text entry field to open the on-screen keyboard.
  2. Tap the 12# key to switch to numbers and symbols; tap the 1/2 key to view all four symbol keypads.
    Note: Touch and hold on the 12# key to access Emoticons.
  3. Tap the ABC key to switch back to text entry.

 

 

Text entry mode

 

To change the text entry or predictive text mode, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any text screen, tap a text entry field to open the on-screen keyboard.
  2. Tap the XT9/ABC key to switch between Multitap and XT9 predictive modes.

 

 

Turn on / off haptic feedback

 

To turn on or turn off haptic feedback vibration, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'Phone,' and tap Sound.
  4. Scroll to 'System,' and tap Vibrate on touch to select or clear
