T-Mobile Device Unlock app

    Device Unlock is an Android app that allows you to request and apply a mobile device unlock directly from the device.

    What you can do with the T-Mobile Device Unlock app

    • Request a Mobile Device Unlock without calling Customer Service.
    • Automatically apply a Mobile Device Unlock to the device without using a manual code.



    What you need to use it

    • A T-Mobile account
    • An Android device with the latest software, that supports the app
    • T-Mobile network coverage or a connection to a Wi-Fi network


    How to use your app


    Request a mobile device unlock

    1. From the app list, tap Device Unlock.
    2. Tap Continue.
    3. Wait while the device connects to the server.
    4. Choose the desired device unlock type:
      • Permanent Unlock
      • Temporary Unlock: Temporary unlocks must be performed with a mobile data connection and T-Mobile SIM. You can't do a Temporary Unlock when connected to Wi-Fi.
    5. Wait while the device requests the unlock.
      • If successful, restart the device to apply the settings. This step is not required for the Sony Xperia Z3.
        • Permanent Success
        • Temporary Success
      • If you do not restart the device, you will have a persistent alert in the notification tray.
      • If you completed a Permanent Unlock, the applications disappear from the device app list.
      • If you completed a Temporary Unlock, you must wait for it to expire before attempting a permanent unlock.


    Temporary unlock expiration

    1. When a temporary unlock expires, you receive an expiration message.

    2. Tap OK. If a non T-Mobile SIM card is inserted, the device reboots.
