Learn how to use the task manager and free up memory on the LG Optimus F3.

 

 

 

 

Manage memory

 

To manage the internal memory, follow these steps:

 

Restart device regularly

Note: You should restart your phone at least once per day.

  1. Press and hold the Power key.
  2. Tap Power off and restart.


Reduce memory use
Note
: If your phone is running slow, then you can reduce the amount of memory it is using.

  • Reduce your RAM clear period
    1. From any screen, press and hold the Home key.
    2. Tap Task Manager.
    3. Tap the Menu key, and then tap Settings.
    4. If necessary, select the Auto clear RAM check box.
    5. Tap Auto clear period.
    6. Select a more frequent auto clear period.
  • Remove widgets (Animated widgets and widgets that update information use the most memory)
    1. From the Home screen, touch and hold on the widget you want to remove.
    2. Slide the widget over Remove and release your finger.
  • Replace a Live wallpaper
    1. From any Home screen, touch and hold on the screen.
    2. Tap Wallpapers.
    3. Perform one of the following actions:
      • Use a photo
        1. Tap Gallery.
        2. Navigate to and select the desired photo.
        3. If necessary, crop the photo by moving and adjusting the blue border.
        4. Tap OK.
        5. If prompted to add this image to the lock screen, select the desired option.
      • Use a default wallpaper
        1. Touch the row of wallpaper previews and slide left to view more.
        2. Select the desired wallpaper.


Manage applications

Note: Manage your applications to keep your device running smoothly.

  • Research and monitor new applications that you install
    • Read Play Store application reviews before installing. Not all applications run smoothly on phones. Read customer reviews before downloading an application to see if it has a history of not working properly.
    • If your device starts having problems after installing an application, consider uninstalling the application.
  • Keep applications updated
    1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
    2. Scroll to and tap Play Store.
    3. Tap the Menu key, and then tap My apps.
      Note: To keep your apps automatically updated, tap the Menu key, tap Settings, and then tap Auto-update apps to select your preference.
    4. Perform one of the following actions:
      • Tap Update [x] to update all applications with updates available.
      • Select an individual application, and then tap Update to update.
  • Uninstall third-party applications
  • Clear application cache and data
  • Clear recent applications
    1. From any screen, press and hold the Home key.
    2. To close an individual application, touch the preview from the list and slide it to the right.
    3. To close all recent applications, tap Clear all.
  • Never install a third-party Task Manager or Battery Manager
    • These applications interfere with how Android works

 

 

Task manager

 

A task manager can view running apps and close them. To use the task manager, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Scroll to and tap Task Manager.
  3. Choose one of the following options:
    • To stop an application individually, tap Stop next to the application name.
    • To stop all running applications, tap Stop all.
  4. Tap the Menu key, and then tap Settings.
  5. To automatically clear your RAM:
    1. Select the Auto clear RAM check box.
    2. Tap Auto clear period and select the desired interval.
  6. To prevent automatic clearing of RAM, clear the Auto clear RAM check box.

 

 

 

View free memory

 

To view the amount of free internal memory, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. Scroll to 'DEVICE,' and then tap Apps.
  4. Touch the screen and slide left to view the 'RUNNING' screen.
  5. View the RAM 'free' value in the lower-right corner.
