Battery saving mode

 

To turn on, turn off, or use battery life saving features on the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. To turn on, tap the 'Power saving mode' Switch to On. The Switch moves right and turns green.
  4. To turn off, tap the 'Power saving mode' Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.
  5. Tap Power saving mode.
  6. Tap Learn about Power saving mode to see tips for saving battery power.

 

 

Battery saving mode settings

 

To change settings for the battery life saving feature, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. If necessary, tap the 'Power saving mode' Switch to On. The Switch moves right and turns green.
    Note: You are prevented from adjusting settings if the Switch is Off.
  4. Tap Power saving mode.
  5. For the following settings, tap to select the check box and turn on or clear the check box and turn off:

    • CPU power saving
    • Screen power saving
    • Background color
    • Turn off haptic feedback

 

 

Tips to save battery life

 

To save and extend battery life, follow these steps:

 

Lower screen brightness and timeout duration

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. Tap Brightness.
  5. If necessary, tap Automatic brightness to clear the check box and turn off.
  6. Touch and slide the slider left to the lowest desirable setting.
  7. Tap OK.
  8. Tap Screen timeout.
  9. Tap the lowest desired setting (lowest is 15 seconds).

 

Turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap More settings.
  4. Tap Tethering & Mobile HotSpot.
  5. Tap the Mobile HotSpot Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.
  6. Touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  7. To turn off Wi-Fi, tap Wi-Fi. The icon is removed of color and the indicator light turns off.
  8. To turn off Bluetooth, if necessary, touch the top of the screen, and drag slightly left to reveal 'Bluetooth.' Tap Bluetooth. The icon is removed of color and the indicator light turns off.
  9. To turn off GPS, tap GPS. The icon is removed of color and the indicator light turns off.

 

Change application sync settings

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Under 'My accounts,' tap the desired account type (for example, Google).
  4. If necessary, tap your email address or user name at the top of the screen to adjust sync settings.
  5. For each available category, tap the sync category (for example, Sync Contacts) to clear the check box and turn off syncing.
  6. For each available category, tap to increase the interval time for how often you device sync occurs (for example, from 30 minutes to 1 hour).

 

Turn off background data

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Data usage.
  4. Tap the Menu key.
  5. Tap Restrict background data to select the check box and start restricting (turn off) background data.

 

Minimize use of third party applications

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Application manager.
  4. Swipe left or right to the Downloaded screen.
  5. Tap the desired application
  6. Tap Disable (to turn off the app) or Uninstall (to delete the app) and then tap OK.

 

Toggle from 4G to 2G

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap More settings.
  4. Tap Mobile networks.
  5. Tap Network mode.
  6. Tap the desired network setting:

    • Automatic LTE / 4G / 3G / 2G
    • Automatic 4G / 3G / 2G
    • 2G only

 

Update to the latest software

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap About device.
  4. Tap Software update.
  5. Follow any additional prompts.

 

Set device to sleep when unused

Press and then quickly release the Power key to set the screen to sleep mode.
