Mobile hotspot: Samsung Galaxy S II

Set up mobile hotspot

 

To set up or configure a mobile hotspot over Wi-Fi, follow these steps:

Note: Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot settings cannot be changed when Wi-Fi sharing is turned on.

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap More Settings.
  4. Tap Tethering and Mobile HotSpot.
  5. Tap the Mobile Hotspot Switch.
  6. Tap Cancel. Otherwise, tap OK to learn more about the Mobile Hotspot feature.
  7. The ‘First time HotSpot configuration’ window pops up. Tap the Password field.

  8. Enter a password that other devices must enter to connect to your Mobile HotSpot.
    Note: Your password must be at least eight characters long.
  9. Tap to adjust any other desired settings.
  10. Tap Save. The Switch moves right and turns green. Your Mobile HotSpot is now active.

  11. Tap the Menu key, then tap Timeout settings and choose from the following:
    • Never timeout
    • 5 minutes
    • 10 minutes
    • 20 minutes
    • 30 minutes
    • 60 minutes

Your phone starts broadcasting its Wi-Fi network name (SSID) so you can connect to it with up to eight other devices. Your phone’s default SSID is Samsung Galaxy S II [xxxx].

 

 

Turn on / off mobile hotspot

 

To turn on or turn off a mobile hotspot over Wi-Fi, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap More settings.
  4. Tap Tethering and Mobile HotSpot.
  5. To turn on, tap the Mobile HotSpot Switch. Switch moves right and turns green.
  6. To turn off, tap the Mobile HotSpot Switch. Switch moves left and turns grey.
