Learn how to customize text entry and default keyboard settings on the Samsung Galaxy S II.

 

 

 

 

Change default keyboard

 

To change the default keyboard, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Language and input.
  4. Tap Default.
  5. Tap one of the following options:
    • Samsung keypad
    • Swype

 

 

Enter symbols & numbers

 

To enter symbols and numbers with the keyboard, follow these steps:

 

Samsung keyboard - Qwerty

  1. From the open keyboard, tap the 123 Sym key.
  2. Tap 1/3, 2/3, and 3/3 keys for more symbols.
    Note: Tap the Menu key and then tap Insert smiley for more emoticons.
  3. Enter the desired number or symbol.
  4. Tap the ABC key to return to the main keyboard.

 

Swype keyboard

  1. From the open keyboard, tap the 123 +!= key.
  2. tap the More symbols key for more symbols.
    Note: Tap the Menu key and then tap Insert smiley for more emoticons.
  3. Enter the desired number or symbol.
  4. Tap the ABC key to return to the main keyboard.

 

 

Text entry mode

 

To change the text entry or predictive text mode, follow these steps:

 

Samsung keyboard

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Language and input.
  4. Tap Samsung keypad settings icon.
  5. Tap the Predictive text Switch to turn on or off predictive text.

 

Swype keyboard

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Language and input.
  4. Tap Swype keypad settings icon.
  5. Tap Settings.
  6. Check or clear Next word prediction to turn on or off predictive text.

 

 

Turn on / off haptic feedback

 

To turn on or turn off haptic feedback vibration, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press Menu.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Sound.
  4. Tap Haptic feedback to enable/disable this option.
