Smartphone Mobile Hotspot: HTC One (M8)

Learn how to share your mobile internet with other devices using the HTC One (M8).

Set up

  1. Check that Wi-Fi and Smartphone Mobile Hotspot are turned off.
  2. From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Scroll to 'WIRELESS & NETWORKS' and tap More.
  5. Tap Mobile network sharing.
  6. Tap Mobile Hotspot. If necessary, read the message and tap OK.
  7. Edit the 'ROUTER NAME (SSID)' field as necessary.

  8. If desired, tap the Password text entry field to change the password.
  9. Tap Manage users.
  10. Verify the Allowed users only check box is not selected.
  11. Tap Done.
  12. If desired, tap the Menu icon in the top right and tap Advanced, then select one of the following options in the 'SECURITY' field:
    • None
    • WEP (128)
    • WPA (TKIP)
    • WPA2 (AES)

  13. Press Back.
  14. Select or clear the Mobile Hotspot check box.

 

Turn on / off

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'WIRELESS & NETWORKS' and tap More.
  4. Tap Mobile network sharing.
  5. Select or clear the Mobile Hotspot check box.
