Backlight

Brightness

To make the screen backlight brighter or darker, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'PHONE' and tap Display, gestures & buttons.
  4. Tap Brightness.
  5. If necessary, clear the Automatic brightness check box.
  6. Touch the screen and slide the Automatic brightness slider to adjust the settings.

 

 

Timeout

To change the time before the backlight times out, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'PHONE' and tap Display, gestures & buttons.
  4. Tap Sleep.
  5. Select the desired backlight setting.

Home screen

Add widget or shortcut

To add a widget or shortcut to the Home screen, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch and hold a vacant spot on any Home screen.
  2. Select a panel to add the widget, shortcut, or application screen to.
  3. Tap the Search icon to find a specific item quickly.
  4. Select either option from the drop-down menu:
    • Widgets
      • Scroll to and tap the desired widget.
      • Selected screen must have available space large enough to fit the widget.
    • Shortcuts
      • Tap the Shortcuts tab.
      • Scroll to and tap the desired shortcut item.

 

 

Delete widget or shortcut

To delete a widget or shortcut from the Home screen, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch and hold a widget, shortcut, or application on any Home screen.
  2. Slide the widget or application over Remove at the top of the screen.
  3. Release your finger.

 

 

Home screen wallpaper

To change the Home screen wallpaper picture, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Personalize.
  4. Tap Wallpaper.
  5. Select one of these options:
    • HTC wallpapers
      1. Scroll to the desired wallpaper image.
      2. If desired, tap PREVIEW.
      3. Tap APPLY.
    • Live wallpapers
      1. Scroll to the desired wallpaper image.
      2. If desired, tap PREVIEW.
      3. Tap APPLY.
    • Gallery
      1. Navigate to and select the desired image.
      2. Touch the screen and slide the crop box to move it to the portion of the image you want.
      3. Touch the screen and slide any corner of the crop box to adjust the size.
      4. Tap DONE.

 

 

Lock screen wallpaper

To change the lock screen wallpaper picture, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Personalize.
  4. Tap Lock screen style.
  5. Touch the screen and slide left or right to select from available lock screen options.
  6. If necessary, tap SETTINGS to select a home or custom wallpaper.
  7. Tap APPLY.

Keyboard

Change default keyboard

To change the default keyboard, follow these steps:


The phone must be in portrait mode (held vertically) when switching between keyboard types.

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap Language & keyboard.
  4. Tap HTC Sense Input.
  5. Tap Keyboard selection.
  6. Tap Keyboard types.
  7. Select one of these options:
    • Standard (QWERTY)
      • The standard QWERTY keyboard is the default keyboard. Its layout is similar to that of a desktop computer keyboard.
      • In landscape mode (when the phone is held horizontally) the standard QWERTY keyboard displays even if the phone keyboard is selected.
    • Standard (AZERTY)
    • Standard (QWERTZ)
    • Phone
      • The layout of the phone keyboard resembles that of the traditional mobile phone keypad.
      • The phone keyboard displays only in portrait mode (when the phone is held vertically).

 

 

Enter symbols & numbers

To enter symbols and numbers with the keyboard, follow these steps:

 

  1. Select any text entry field.
  2. Tap the 12# key to switch to numbers and symbols; tap the 1/2 key to switch between symbol keypads.
  3. Tap the ABC key to switch back to text entry.

 

 

Text entry mode

To change the text entry or predictive text mode, follow these steps:

 

Multi-tap mode

Note: Multi-tap mode can be enabled only for the phone keyboard.

To enter text using multi-tap mode, follow these steps:

 

  1. Tap the XT9 ABC key on the keyboard to highlight 'ABC' in blue.
  2. To use multi-tap mode, tap a key until the desired letter appears.
    Example: On the phone keyboard, to enter the word 'RUN,' tap 7 three times, 8 twice, and 6 twice.

 

 

Predictive text mode

To enter text using predictive text mode, follow these steps:

 

When tapping letters to enter text in a text input field, the phone predicts the word. If the predicted word is the word you want, tap the space key and begin the next word or tap a selection to insert. Otherwise, continue entering the word you want or tap one of the other predictions.

Speech-to-text mode

Speech-to-text mode can be used on all three keyboard types. Speech-to-text mode uses Google’s speech-recognition service, so you need to be connected to the Internet to enter text by speaking.

 

To enter text using speech-to-text mode, follow these steps when the keyboard is open:

 

  1. Tap the Microphone key.
  2. When the 'Speak now' window pops up, say the words and numbers you want.
  3. Tap the Keyboard icon to exit the speech-to-text mode.


Traditional mode
Traditional mode works only for the standard keyboards.
To enter text using traditional mode, follow these steps:

  1. Separately tap each letter of a word.
  2. Tap the Space key between words.

 

 

Turn on / off haptic feedback

To turn on or turn off haptic feedback vibration, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Language & keyboard.
  4. Select HTC Sense Input.
  5. Select or deselect Vibration feedback.
