Bluetooth

Pair Bluetooth device

To turn on Bluetooth and pair with a headset or other device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap the Bluetooth switch to turn on Bluetooth.
  4. On the other device, turn on Bluetooth and make discoverable.
  5. Tap Bluetooth.
  6. Select the other device for pairing.
  7. If prompted, enter or verify the PIN. The default PIN is 1234.
  8. Tap PAIR.
  9. On the other device, accept the pairing.
  10. If too much time elapses before accepting, pairing will time out.

 

 

Turn on / off Bluetooth

To turn on or turn off Bluetooth, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap the Bluetooth switch to the ON position to turn on.
  4. Tap the Bluetooth switch to the OFF position to turn off.

Emergency Alerts

Turn on / off Emergency Alerts

To turn on or turn off Emergency Alert messages that push to the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Emergency alerts.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. Tap Repeat alerts.
  6. Select an interval:
    • Once
    • Every 2 minutes
    • Every 15 minutes
    • Never

GPS

Turn on / off GPS

To turn on or turn off GPS, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to PERSONAL,' then tap Location.
  4. Tap Mode.
  5. To turn on GPS, select one of these modes
    • High accuracy
    • Device sensors
  6. To turn off GPS, select Battery saving mode.

Network

APN & data settings

To set the Access Point Name (APN) and turn on data settings, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Mobile data.
  4. Touch Access Point Names.
  5. If available, tap the T-Mobile Data (the bullet point fills with green). If not available, tap the Menu key, and then tap New APN.
  6. To reset your APN settings:
    1. Tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Reset to default.
  7. Verify and update the following settings for the Data APN:
    • Name: T-Mobile US LTE
    • APN: fast.t-mobile.com
    • Proxy: <Not set>
    • Port: <Not set>
    • Username: <Not set>
    • Password: <Not set>
    • Server: <Not set>
    • MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    • MMS proxy: <Not set>
    • MMS port: <Not set>
    • MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
    • MCC: 310
    • MNC: 260
    • Authentication type: <Not set>
    • APN type: <Not set> OR Internet+MMS
    • APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
    • APN roaming protocol: IPv4
    • Enable/disable APN: <greyed out unless there are multiple APN's>
    • Bearer: Unspecified
  8. Tap the Menu key.
  9. Tap Save.
  10. Tap the desired APN profile you want to use.
  11. The bullet point fills with green next to the APN profile.

 

 

Manual network selection

To manually select the wireless network the device connects to, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Mobile data.
  4. Tap Network operators.
  5. Tap Search networks.
  6. Select the desired network.

 

 

Switch 2G / 4G / LTE

To change the band between 2G, 4G, and LTE, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Mobile data.
  4. Tap Network Mode.
  5. Select an option:
    • Tap WCDMA only to use a 3G connection only.
    • Tap GSM only to use a 2G connection only.
    • Tap GSM / WCDMA auto to use a 4G connection when available.
    • Tap GSM / WCDMA / LTE auto to use an LTE connection when available.

 

 

Turn on / off Airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows you to use apps and menus, but not make calls or use the internet.

 

To turn on or turn off airplane mode, follow these steps:

 

  1. Press and hold the Power key.
  2. Tap Airplane mode to turn on or turn off.

 

 

Turn on / off data roaming

Turning on data roaming will incur charges if you roam internationally, but it is required to receive data when roaming domestically.

 

To turn on or turn off data roaming, follow these steps:

 

Turn on

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Mobile data.
  4. Select the Data roaming check box.
  5. Tap OK.
  6. If desired, select the Data roaming sound check box to play a sound when connecting to a roaming network.

 

Turn off

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Mobile data.
  4. Clear the Data roaming check box.
  5. If necessary, clear the the Data roaming sound check box.

NFC

Turn on / off NFC

To turn on or turn off NFC, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Under WIRELESS & NETWORKS,' tap More.
  4. Tap NFC.
  5. Slide the NFC switch right to the ON position to turn on.
  6. Slide the NFC switch left to the OFF position to turn off.

System Manager (Carrier IQ)

Opt in / out of System Manager

System Manager makes it easier for T-Mobile to help with problems that happen when using your device. To opt in or opt out of System Manager, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'PERSONAL,' then tap Security.
  4. Under 'PERSONAL DATA,' tap Collect Diagnostics.
  5. Select Allow Diagnostics to opt in.
  6. Clear Allow Diagnostics to opt out.

Wi-Fi

Delete Wi-Fi network profile

To delete a saved Wi-Fi network profile, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. Touch and hold on the network you are connected to.
  5. Tap Forget network.

 

 

Scan & connect to Wi-Fi network

To scan for and connect to available Wi-Fi networks, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. If necessary, tap the Wi-Fi switch to turn on Wi-Fi.
  5. Tap the Menu icon.
  6. Tap Scan.
  7. Select the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.
  8. If security is enabled, enter the password.
  9. Tap CONNECT.

 

 

Turn on / off Wi-Fi

To turn on or turn off Wi-Fi, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap the Wi-Fi switch to the ON position to turn on.
  4. Tap the Wi-Fi switch to the OFF position to turn off.

 

 

Wi-Fi indicators

To determine when you have an active Wi-Fi connection, refer to these icons:
