Wi-Fi calling: HTC One (M8)

Register the 911 address

To use Wi-Fi calling, you must first register your 911 address at my.t-mobile.com. If you do not, you may see a REG09 error. To learn how to register your 911 address, see: 911 addresses: My T-Mobile.

 

 

Set phone to use Wi-Fi or mobile networks

To set the connection preference for the phone to use Wi-Fi calling or mobile networks, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Under 'WIRELESS & NETWORKS,' tap More.
  4. If necessary, tap the Wi-Fi Calling switch to turn on Wi-Fi calling.
  5. Tap Wi-Fi Calling.
  6. Tap Connection Preferences.
  7. Select one of the following options:
    • Wi-Fi Preferred: All calls are made over an available Wi-Fi network. If there are no available Wi-Fi networks, then calls are made over the cellular network.
    • Cellular Network Preferred: All calls are made over the cellular network. If the cellular network is not available, then calls are made over an available Wi-Fi network.
    • Never use Cellular Network: All calls are made over a Wi-Fi network. If there are no available Wi-Fi networks, calls will not connect.

 

Turn on Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Calling

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi
  4. If necessary, tap the Wi-Fi switch to turn on Wi-Fi.
  5. Select the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.
  6. If security is enabled, enter the Wireless password.
  7. Tap CONNECT.
  8. Tap the Back key.
  9. Under 'WIRELESS & NETWORKS,' tap More.
  10. Tap the Wi-Fi Calling switch to turn on Wi-Fi calling.

 

Note: When the Wi-Fi Calling feature is active, your phone will display the Wi-Fi Calling icon on the status bar. When you see the icon, you can make phone calls and send messages over the Wi-Fi network.

Turn on Wi-Fi and connect to network

To use Wi-Fi calling, you must first turn on Wi-Fi and connect to a network.

 

To turn on Wi-Fi and connect, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap the Wi-Fi switch to turn on or turn off Wi-Fi.

 

 

Turn on Wi-Fi calling

To turn on Wi-Fi calling, follow these steps:

 

  1. If this is the first time you are using Wi-Fi calling, start with registering your 911 address and connection preference (above).
  2. Turn on Wi-Fi and connect to a network.
