Is Everybody having as much problems with myTouch 4G as much as I am?

So far, there has been 4 "service requests" as TMobile calls them, to no avail....to be short, i will be sitting in one place and have full bars of 4G service, i look at it and all i see is an "x" and no bars at all, no service displayed in the section where the signal info is, nothing for like 10-15 secs, then BAM, 4G full bars again.....??????   several troublechooting calls later i get a replacement phone, so i am happy......too bad......new phone does the same???/   i call again and i get some excuse that maybe the towers have a problem switching signals when no 4G is available, so i'm like ok, no problem, they set service requests for tech to go and check the towers, i call back after the alloted time, they say: "yes the tech fixed the issue" , but nope, issues are still reoccuring.....so new service requests.....still same....BTW, i went on vacation in Florida, the place i was had only 2G coverage, and the same happened there???   i live in ohio.....i went to a concert in cleveland, shopping in cincy, same everywhere....is it just me or ???

i am having the same problem, im not sure how to fix it either.

i really think we cannot fix it as users, it is a problem that TMobile needs to fix....

Do a wipe and clear cache.  Don't install any task killers. Pull battery and reboot.  After all that, see how it goes.

I am having that problem and then some. This phone is giving grief.

I typed this up in the gx2 area for someone having similar issues.  This is a problem that has been around since the 4g roll out.  With the new forms they don't have the old posts anymore for you to search through.  Here is the copy and paste from my response a few days ago.

    Re: Reception problems?

Here is the answer .  T-mobile has a problem with their hspa+ signal.  It is causing the phones of 4g devices to randomly drop all connection to the network.  It doesn't matter what time of day, what your doing with the phone, how many times you replace it, how many sim cards you get, how many master resets you do,  how many times you call in to complain, which make/model phone you have, or what market you live in.  Their engineers are aware of the problem for months and can't solve it.  Every cell phone device responds differently and why some people are experiencing this while others are not does not help to solve the problem.  Nor does getting constant replacements of hardware/sim cards and still having the same problem.  That is why they are telling you after so many replacements that another one isn't going to fix the problem.  The next time you call in, ask the tech to check the bulletin on the status of this issue to confirm what I'm saying.  Don't let them tell you there is no such  problem because there is and its posted in their support bulletins.

Setting the phone to work on 2g is a cop out answer but unfortunately the only way to have a constant connection to the network so your not missing phone calls or txt messages (if your experincing this problem).  You can use wifi calling but the phone is still connected to the 3g+ network.  It will experience these signal drops which means no txt messages will get to you.  Let them know your frustrated and this is not what you signed up for.  Have them document you expect to be compensated accordingly since you first reported the problem.  Last, if you can't take it any longer you can try writing a complaint to the company asking them to let you out of the contract with no fee's since this problem is with their network, unrelated to terrain, unrelated to network congestion, and you have gone through everything their support has tried while continuing to experince this.  They can look at your account and the lengthy documentation of this problem.

I have been dealing with this problem since December on the MT4G and this is what their customer service/tech department has advised me.

    Good luck

Yeah they have earned, or if u please lost an 8 year customer, because i pay good money for service and do not want to pay for frustration, soooo.....in the process of switching and changing providers, i plainly do not like to be lied to, if u can't fix the problem, or plan on it, how about at least having the decency to tell me that you have a stupid problem....soo, bye bye frustration , bye bye TMobile.

Really think it's a cop out that they removed all the info in the old forums.

Guess there were too many proofs of problems for them, so they reset and deleted the posts.

There was a lot of useful info in the old forums. Unfortunately, form their POV, there were a lot of proofs of problems with service. Too bad they didn't see the value in keeping the info available to prevent starting all over

Yes, I agree that it was really unfortunate that they chose not to allow access to the old forums...why deny us all that information? Even if there is no ulterior motive in hiding it, it makes no sense at all.

There were many protests when the new forums started about why they were deleting (or hiding) the old ones, and no replies given that I ever saw, so obvously they made a deliberate choice in hiding the old forums.

Ditto parkside, that was one of the first things I thought as well. Too many unresolved documented problems that were being returned when using a google search that could turn off potential new customers.

Or perhaps they just didn't have the resources to maintain two redundant forum engines at once. It's not exactly like T-Mobile is flush with money. I think it sucks that all that valuable info is gone, but I really don't see it being some sinister plot. But I guess we're all taught that corporations are evil so it's easy to believe they're denying us that info because they're just not nice people.

I have a MT4G and have had problems with the service (X) also. Have done a handset replacement, 3 sim card replacements, 2 master resets, removed all apps, dropped my service to 3g, software update, and had a ticket open for the engineers. Of course came back with nothing. Just spoke with a guy at tmobile. He said if everyone who has this problem calls and request that tmobile let HTC know (Give them you IEM number, what software you run they can send a ticket over to HTC). If we get a certain percentage of people with this issue they would have to do something to fix the hardware or we would possibly get a different phone. I've done everything and this is my last resort and im hoping that HTC sees that its a problem. It sounds more like a service problem but I also have 3 other lines with tmobile and none of them have this porblem I have, so im not sure who to blame. And yes my other phone is a 4g phone. I posted a while back about this problem glad to hear im not the only one having this problem (every time I call I feel like im the only one who has this problem).

I had so many issues with mine they gave me a Samsung Galaxy SII as a replacement.

I was offered a MT4G Slide last week.  After writing in, more trouble tickets, and the engineers saying the network is fine and there isn't anything more they can trouble shoot I asked to be transferred over to retention.  That essentially said they can't fix the problem.  I explained everything that has been done and I wished to cancel my contract for that line instead of paying for cell service that is intermitent .  Initially I was offered another MT4G warranty exchange and I repeated again that after 4 of them, another isn't going to fix the problem and that is why your tech support doesn't offer me one anymore.  He then came back with the only other option he can offer is a MT4G Slide.

I said that is fine, I've been asking for almost half a year for a different 4g phone model to see if the problem remained.  I also let the rep know if the problem continued on this phone then I will be returning the phone and going through with the cancel.

Now it's not the phone I would jump up and down to buy but after almost a week with it I have not experienced the "X" issue.  I'm still cautious but it looks promising.  Yesterday I tested out my original MT4G and sure enough, the "X" returned. Popped the sim card back into the new phone and no problems.  My suspicion is the radio hardware in the MT4G does not agree with TMO's network the way it should.  Either way I'm just glad to have a phone that is able to maintain a signal to the network and it didn't cost me my upgrade or change in contract length.
